I was told the reason why the terminal wires dont reach the battery terminals is because the battery size is wrong. The store said that 52D was the correct size according to his book.
I have a tiny tiny battery and my wires still reach. When you have your battery in the car with the positive and negative terminals on the correct side are they at the front of the battery or the back? If they are at the front you may need a battery with the terminals on the opposite sides.
Where is your old battery? Take it to the store and ask for another one of the same sort. Pretty simple solution.
the old battery was the wrong size as well. shouldnt it be specified somewhere? like in the service manual, I was unable to find it though.
It's the orientation of the terminals that is your problem. The batteries can come with the terminals in either configuration +ve on left and -ve on the right or reverse/mirrored. Bear that in mind when you get your next battery.
Nah, it only is short by less than an inch, if the terminals were reversed the difference would be much greater.
Australian Battery Distributors are pro's with what battery suit what car. When I ordered mine and asked him he told me what the best one was and delivered it within hours. Terminals were right and something like 6 or 700 CCA She's still going strong. I'll post up tomorrow what model it is.
Are the terminals on the edge battery closest to the front of the car, or on the edge of the battery nearest the firewall? I suspect they are on the edge of the battery closest to the front of the car. Now do this part in your head. Take out the battery, turn it 180 degrees. Put the battery back in. Now the terminals are nearest the firewall, but now they are incorrect orientation from left to right. Now imagine the terminals reversed. Next battery needs to be opposite . They are available in both configurations I can't see how the battery leads can't fit to practically any sized battery if the terminals are nearest the firewall, and the terminals are also on the correct side of the battery (from left to right).
exactly, just get a decent battery. but as long as when you buy it, imagine sitting it in the cradle and the terminals have to be closest to the firewall, positive on the drivers' side, negative on the passenger side. then you'll be sweet.
Just bought one myself recently, the one specified in the book had the terminals the wrong way. Fortunately they had an identical battery in the correct layout too.
I usually measure the battery tray or the available space - length/width/height of the biggest battery that will fit. Then I make a sketch where I mark the + and - terminals and take that together with a tape to the battery shop. Easy
I meant the battery model or part number or what ever you want to call it. Mine's N53. I know that Z32's are from 89 to 00 Best 11 years for Nissan.
You can fit quite a big battery in there. Mine is 770 CCA and huge. No luxury of a clutch start with an auto, so I like a big battery
just replace mine from RAC they came and installed it for me. last one from them last me only 2 years. I am so glad that i took three year warrenty so they replace it for me for free. If u get a new one make sure u get extended warrenty
