i was advertising on some websits that i was looking to trade my ZX, and i had a lot of replies for some diferents sport cars namely for some R34. i just want to know what would u think if about a trade ZX/R34. i know a lot of you dont like the Skylines for many reason, but i just want to compare the pros and cons of this 2 cars. SKYLINE R34 2.5L 1998 MANUAL NON TURBO the good points are: - consume less petrol - cheaper insurance - less mechanical problem (pretty new) - cheaper labor (easy and more space to fix it) - good looking the bad points: - ... no idea 300ZX 3L 1989 MANUAL TWIN TURBO the good points are: - powerfull car - easy to customize - good looking (namely with the VeilSide bodykit) - cheap to buy the bad points are: - consume a lot of petrol - expensive insurance - expensive labor (to fix it) - expensive part (to fix) - old car, so a lot of mechanical problem do u see other good or bad points to add in the comparaison of this 2 cars?
you can always sell your TT and buy an N/A alot cheaper for insurance. or u could get an fto mivec. the little buggers do handle and its a 2litre v6 so not that thirsty. seems a waste of an r34 to be a non turbo.
fto is too small, i love the look of the R34 more than the fto... i dont want a turbocharger car anymore, cause i maybe drive once a month over 110 on the freew
i was very interested in a non-turbo r34.....a few reasons: -very cheap like 14 gran and new looking -not that common -easy to sell especially at that price -wont have many probs as its so new Now the thing is you say you dont want a turbocharged car but that doesnt mean if you go high speeds you need on or want one.....personally i dont care if the law makes me do no more than 100 but for around the city and stuff i love the turbo cars as you can give it a hit now and then and have some legal fun...... 0 turbo r34 are about 4-5 gran more.....so no point of doing a conversion later if your not liking the power.... btw i heard the na zeds are pretty quick, anyone know if this is the case with the non-turbo r34?
r34's are quiet nice, just a warning tho... be prepared for every single person who sees your car to give you shait about it being a non-turbo, hey its the feature car from 2 fast 2 furious, its what your gunna get man. alot of nice non turbo cars out there, remember cars arnt thirsty its the persons foot, you can still make a NA r34 drink mother loads by planting every chance you get. if the only enjoyment you get from a turbo car is when you go on the highway...wow you got some issues there lol, for me its all about the torque, feels great, going from a beasty 300zx to a NA r34 would be horrible, like going from my mates GSR into my NA silvia haha. have you had a look at toyota celisors? theyr v8 but pretty generous on fuel, not 100% sure what ur after, remember u sayin u wanted one of them lil celicas, but theyr 2 door? and so is a fto? i too like ftos lol other then the fwd that is. how about a rexy? still turbo, boxer sound... pretty thirsty i spose. lol maybe you should get a commodore, big and not that thirsty imo stick with the z, but hey everyone is different.
Skylines are great cars in there own right, I like them. If you want to trade your TT on the N/a r34 do it! simple as that.
i dont mind if its slower than the ZX TT. the thing is that the R34 is 200kg lighter than the ZX. the R34 is 200 HP 1300Kg 4WD the ZX TT is 280HP 1500kg RWD i will be hurt to get rid of my Z, because i really love it, but i start to have too many mechanical problems, very expensive to fix, so its seriously pissing me off. just want to get a R34 non turbo until i finish Uni (still 2 years) then i might gonna buy a supra TT
expensive, they use more petrol than the zed, (i had a r33) look like boxes every man and there dog has a skyline AH WELL STILL BETTER THAN A CELICA THOUGH MATE
NA Aerotop Mark IV Supra for the win!!! Pic one up for as little as $13,000. Looks sexier than anything on the road, with a nice bit of power to boot.
well every man and there dog has a skyline, true, but a R33 not R34 cause i dont see that much R34 around here, maybe once every 2 weeks ... and i see like 20 R33 a day, lol, thats why i like the R34 ...
Na supra has "power to boot"? Sorry buddy, but my housemate owned an na mark 4 supra and it had NO balls. I realise that factory spec's show that new stock na Z and na supra's have basically identical power outputs, but ny na Z felt far more powerful than my mates supra, & this is not just a feeling, we tested it out on the road as well. Eventually he sold his supra.
lol @ 200hp/1300kg compared to 280hp/1500kg.. where are your torque figures.. kiss torque goodbye sonny
I had an R34 GTT 2.5 Turbo (1998) I had an R34 GTT 2.5 Turbo (1998) back in NZ a few months back... Nice car, not as quick as the Z (in stock trim anyway) doesn't handle as nicely in the dry, but traction control is nice to have in the rain Nice Executive feel, imo Less petrol consumption than a TT Zed. On balance, for a daily driver, i'd probably take the R34 Turbo over the Z ... It's just easier, more reliable (although i did have a coil problem), better visibility, more usable back seats, but for a weekend warrior the Z just looks much nicer! - and here in aus ... Z's are a LOT cheaper than R34's ! (cars are so much cheaper in NZ {sob})
I reckon it's a good trade, based on the skyline being a newer car. However having read some of your posts it seems like your main concerns are running costs, correct? A TT can be remarkably economical -for what it is, if you keep it off boost. I manage around 13L/100kms around town, which isn't great BUT when you consider the size and weight of the car, and that those are ACTUAL figures, not manufacturers BS claims I don't think it's too bad. I also have an SV21 camry and I reckon I'm doing well if I can manage 10L/100kms of actual city driving. So I don't think the zed stacks up too badly when you compare it to some other "econobox" type cars, but it all depends on how you drive it. Maintenance will probably be cheaper on the skyline due to the age and the fact that a TT zed is a **** to work on. If you want something that's cheap to run go out and spend 2K on a runabout camry/corolla/swift/etc, pros would be Cheap to run Cheap to repair and it doesn't matter if you don't keep it in pristine condition Can park wherever and not worry about people ******* with your car Cheap rego Who needs insurance???? These are the reasons I bought the camry and it's proved to be a really good investment. If you can afford two lots of regos each year, or even find someone to split the cost of the second car with I reckon it could be a good alternative.
Hmm. Interesting. I had been told they had a little more kick than the zeds. I think I have no choice but to go and test drive one now.
why would you think that a 2.5L turbo would have more go then a 3L twin turbo? i agree if your after practicality why not avoid a import all togeather n get a commodore or something.
