    You don't

have to take the engine out to fix a boost leak in front of the compressor, the clamp on the outlet pipe's from the compressor's can be tightened in situ, any hoses on the out let pipe's can be go to with the engine in. A leaking/weeping H/G is another story, that has to be repaired.

fix the coolant leak asap because things like that never get better it will only get worse, so it can be done now or later when things have worsened and possible overheat issues to follow.

Its not a lot of coolant, only about 10c coins worth around the gasket, ill have to check again.

who put the gasket in and how long ago? what head bolts were used? was any head gasket spray used and were the heads and block shaved?

I'm still trying to decide if I should use a cometic or not

I could use OEM, but i worry about my compression ratio being to high.
Ive taken about a 1mm off the heads, and a fraction off the block.

i wouldnt use oem on a big hp build if youve taken that much off the head and block.

This concerns me as I have cometic headgaskets to put on my engine...

The block needs to be machined to Cometics exact requirements, if it isn't it will leak. There is nothing wrong with the gaskets themselves, they are just very sensitive to incorrect machining and installation.

Imho, I would rather not build potential issues into an engine by using parts that have a very large margin for error. The OEM head gasket is a very good piece, not too many people need to look past this part in a build.

what about copper head gaskets by ACL ?

Dunno re power, piston size is probably your first consideration?

Not familiar with copper gaskets, I thought they were generally used with o rings?

    Piston size ?

as for the copper gaskets a member on here told me he had ACL remake every gasket on the VG out of copper including head gaskets
