Passenger side cat temp sensor has failed, I've managed to get the sucker out but i'm unable to find a replacement. any ideas?
Cut it off and throw it away. Not needed if your Z is in reasonable condition. Another thing, how do you know it has failed?
then main half has broken off from the other half, resulting in a failure. so i smashed it with a hammer and ripped it out. ok cool, so how to i fill my exhaust leak now?
seconded, not that many people still run the cat temp sensor these days. just cut it off and forget about it.
Try unbolting what ever is left after you smashed it and replacing it with a bolt. If that fails an exhaust shop should be able to weld it up for you.
Only real benefit with the cat overheat sensoralert s are they will tell you when you have an ignition problem as there will be an excess of fuel passing over the cat sensor. Of course, you'd also likely notice this as slight misfire(s) anyway. As the others have said ... remove em.
Apologies for not mentioning it, I didn't mean for the sake of the running of the car, this is being done so that the car can be registered. The pits had complained that my oxygen sensor was disconnected, (however they were referring to cat temp sensor) so i'm not sure if they'll complain that there's a sensor on one side and no sensor on the other.:zlove:
In that case chuck them both, grind the bung off and weld it up. It's not part of the emissions gear, but if there is nothing there, then there is nothing to explain
