hey guys, just been driving my car since I fixed my suspension. But I notice that everytime I floor it nothing happens. Checked my boost controller boost gauge and it barely goes to 0.5 bar even though its set to 0.9 bar and the turbo makes a roar but nothing happens. I thought their might be a boost leak, but how do I find out as I have never had one before.
Are these the symptoms of a boost leak though? How would I know if a turbo has blown or been damaged?
Sounds as if your car may be in "safety boost". On another note, I have owned turbo engined cars for the past 23 yrs, and so far I have NEVER heard the turbo "spool up" or "roar". In general conversation at Cowra Z Fest, very few people could say that they had ever heard it either(most are of the opinion that it's the Clutch Fan that makes a noise, not the turbo's). If my turbo's started making a noise, I would check my Bank balance really quickly.
Under B in tech section Big leaks wont be noisy so hard to hear and might not blow bubbles for a detergent bubble test but you will feel a breeze if you wet your hand and search around the engine bay. The bigger intercooler piping and the piping at the turbos would be where Id look first. I found a few loose hose clamps on mine made a huge difference. Watch to not pump it up too high stay below 14 psi. Thats why caz racing's tester is cool it has a gauge to check that.
Seriously though My TT has to be pushed really hard to get any pressure reading on the boost gauge, and then doesn't get much past 0.3 - 0.4 bar. What sort of boost pressures should I be seeing at say 100 kph doodling along in overdrive and say accelerating "firmly" from standing to 100 kph? thanks Neddey
if you're just cruising you shouldn't be on boost and if you're gunning it you should be hitting max boost (9 psi is stock) wierd questions man....lol
