So I've contacted all the local places here in TAS and no one does black chroming here.

Wondering if any knows anywhere on the big island that does it.

The shop I use can do aluminium, although you're right most places can't. It would not be a cheap job but it would look ****ing amazing. Drop me a line if you want to chat more, I even have a spare plenum here that I could use as a core.

I know right. It would be fkn incredible.

I did buy a spare engine so I could bling all the bits up and swap them over in one go. Maybe we could swap plenums or something.

I don't have the cash at the mo, do you reckon you could gauge how much it would cost me to use your guys? Ill work o. Some savings in the mean time.

I have a rear US style number plate frame that is supposedly 'Black Chromed'.
There are visible imperfections in the finish caused by exposure to moisture.
So it might not be the ideal finish at the end of the day.
I've had a lot of aluminium pieces anodised in the past, which has proven to be very durable.
Anodising can be done in flat & gloss finishes, however the final finish is determined by the quality of the base metal.
The induction manifold being cast may not present the best finish due to imperfections in the casting such as minor porosity.
It may be advisable to have something small treated & see how it turns out.
Probably a broken piece from a manifold, so you would be comparing the same type of metal.

Yes I had a rather lengthy convo with one of the places in Launceston. Total car nut and he's chromed everything he could on his ss Torana.
He did say brake dust and exhaust fumes kill chrome plating on aluminium, but said I should get a long (10) year life from something under the hood.

It will need to be polished to the nth degree as well, any small discrepancy in the surface is amplified in the plating process, so I can see many many nights ahead with p2000 wet and dry.

    Royalties this way... ....

Thinking I should've kept this one to myself now. :(

I'm also thinking mat graphite wheels, and an awesome green metallic pearl for highlight bits if you wanna copy my whole style :p
