looking at changing my oil as im sick of light weight shockproof spewing all over my exhaust !!

what other box oil have ppl used

id rather not go redline mt90 havent heard any good reviews of that

anyone tried the castrol Vmx 80w SAE 75W-80 apparently gets good reviews

    nulon also do a 75w90

what spec is oem oil ???

    royal purple any good??

apparently nulon G70 additive is also great for helping with shifting and noise

Oil is in the gearbox, diff & engine to PREVENT wear.
It is inevitable that wear will occur, regardless of what brand of oil you use.
If an oil of incorrect specification is used wear will occur significantly faster.

The tech's at Redline Oil DON'T recommend lightweight shockproof oil be used in our vehicles in street applications, racing is a different application.

I know, you'll see comments to the contrary by various people stating the opposite.

If your gearbox is noisy or your having shift change issues it's a 99% probability your gearbox has worn components.
It's a big ask to think changing brands of oil will FIX the problem/s.

There's a thread somewhere that explains why the LSP comes out the breather. There's a little plastic baffle in there that will be broken.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

I use whatever EP 80/90 gear oil that I can find regardless of the brand.

In the car in my avatar, I use a 4:1 mix of ATF and EP 80/90. But thats purely a power saving function. When you have 40Hp to play with, half a % saving in friction helps!

I like the nulon as it comes in a pretty bottle.

    Now thats fair!!!!!!

I must say im a little more selective in a different way. being fundamentally a tightass, I buy whatever is cheapest/on special!!!!!!!!

Hahah might have to give it a go will add a long breather hose to the box aswell and rig up some kind of oil catch aswell . Have read about the baffles must be the reason the oil is coming out the breather !!

    I run shockproof

But my zed (recently) is driven harder then most with some high rpm shifts

The leaking part is coming out the breather.

I got aroud this by simply having a VAC tube that I ran up into the engine bay and looped around the back.

Let's see it climb up near a meter of hose!

East Coast is spot on as usual.

    The Z32 requires a GL4 oil. Shock proof is a GL5.

It has nothing to do with how "hard" you drive your car.

I also ran shock proof and my mechanic Andrew (ASR) did similar to what you described (hose went to a filter near the top, center, back of the engine). I was always amazed at how it could in fact climb up a meter of hose and out of the end of the filter at the end of the hose. Andrew eventually replaced with Royal Purple and haven't had any problem with it since.

I have a 2k spec box. my baffle may be intact stopping it coming up as I have not noticed any leaking at all yet

Yeah that's what I have heard that it doesn't do that with everyone just those with broken baffles.

The Royal Purple is also a GL5 and probably not the best choice for a Z32.

The phosphor content in GL5 oils makes them corrosive to yellow metals. Redline (and I suspect Royal purple as they say their oil can be used in place of a GL4) use modifiers to mitigate this, however the advice from their respective tech departments is still that a GL5 is too slippery for the Z32 gearbox.

    Redline MT90 is a synthetic GL4.

Motul Gear 300 is also available in a GL4 and given the quality of their motor oils I'm keen to try it out.

Many of us in Sydney use LWSP because a particular shop lead us to believe it was the best choice for our cars. It seems this was bad advice...

If its an old worn box LWSP will give it a new lease on life till it dies.

A new box (2000 spec) after you run it in with the Nissan oil ( say 10,000 klms) would be a good choice to use MT90.

Motul are very good oils. I used Motul in my previous racecar after the recommended Penrite oil nearly destroyed my synchros.
