^^^^ Anti, not sure if you've noticed, but you have some paper stuck under your front guard in your sig pic?
not sure if that counts as defective, with sharp edges and all, if you ran over someone, you could give them a paper cut.. safety first man...

    little update

    mmmmmmmmm-'kay some news!

Emile (MoulaZX) came 'round to help have a crack at installing the HKS VPC. Didn't go completely to plan, but made progress none the less!

It's the wiring that's getting to us. We can't figure out at the Z32 equivalent of an "igniter" is. We've wired the unit into power, earth and MAF input, but can't figure out where the last wire goes to. As soon as we hook the ignitor into either the PTU earth or spark plug #1, the engine coughs and dies and we could smell petrol - running rich. So the HKS unit is definitely having some input. Soon a we figure out the wire, it'll be ready to go.

We mounted it in the glove box. Going to put my boost controller in there too I think. It arrived this week! :)

Professionals use cable ties. I'm going to get a pair of extra long black ones to replace the green when I mount the boost controller.

In other news, I gave my Zed a second nose job. Finally mounted one of my 240z rear 1/4 emblems on an OEM nose. Love it! Turned out even better than planned.

Quad vent nose panel is up for sale.

The badge conveniently covers up any old holes left from the original Z badge. That means there's no need to respray it when doing the switch.

Badge will obviously be getting rechromed soon. Got a spare from my pair up for sale.

I also finally got around to mounting my HID ballasts underneath my headlights. Great to have the ugly mother****ers out of the engine bay! Bitch of a job though.

Not sure how everybody else does it, but this is how I fit mine. to my relief, body underneath the headlights was completely straight :)

While I was there, I pulled out my completely redundant AC condenser fan. Once the VPC install is complete and I bin the pipework, it'll be straight through from FMIC - oil cooler - radiator. Awesome.

Emile's coming back on Saturday and we're going to tackle the VPC again and install my blow off valves as well as the GReddy Profec B II. Can't wait!

If you're open to feedback Theo, I'd have to agree. If not, you were still going to get it

It looks really nice IRL, a nice bit of detail. Will be super clean when the badge has been rechromed and the car painted. You'll all see!

here, have a song to listen to while you read.

    [yt]_MMI1hEScO8[/yt]

Picked up a new driver's side B pillar, NA power steering reservoir and passenger side window moulding from Killabeez's wreck last night. I nabbed a new driver's side window moulding from a wrecker last week or so which is sweet, because they were both ****ed - cracked, chunks missing, you know. repainted them both, I'll put them on and repaint the 1/4 window mouldings as well and get some pics :) 10000000% improvement on faded and cracked mouldings! Man they age a car...

Also got a set of these:

    From the group buy :)

Also just ordered two sets of these... FMIC came with some, but they're blue. And they look shit house poking through the sides of the mouth.

and 20 more t-bolt clamps! God this preventative shit gets expensive. This means though that the entirety of my intake system will be held together with t-bolts instead of worm clamps, and there's no 20 year old rubber left in it at all.

Just need some straight couplers to come off of the turbos now.

I was going to post today about how all my door and 1/4 window mouldings are like new... I sourced two good condition window mouldings as mine were both cracked and missing chunks, and repainted them along with my 1/4 mouldings... went to fit them today and realized I bought two passenger side mouldings...

    i'm such a dickhead...

    bit slack with the updates

    cheers john!

Emile was around last weekend again to help put in the BOV's, MAP sensor and boost controller. It was a great success!

    The workshop for the day:

We did the BOV's first. They're replica HKS SSQV III's. I'd love the real deal, but at $320 a pop it's just not worth it for something that's essentially a wank factor mod. The ones I got were less than $60 each with free postage. Gibbon Tamer put me onto them, cheers!

Really simple to plumb these up, thought it would be worse than it was. All you do is pull out the recircs and shove these in where they were - two hoses. Since these are full recirc, the hole in the intake pipework where the air is pumped back in usually must be plugged... not for me!

They sound just awesome. Low boost and they do a wicked 3-stage flutter (sounds a bit like dose, but less painful!) and with more pressure, just a straight "chhi!"

Next came another crack at the VPC... Day 1 we powered it up and physically installed it. We figured out the correct MAP sensor pin (27) but couldn't find out the other input. We tried RPM and... BAM!

Started up with no AFM, T-piece or recirc piping connected. Revved as far as we'd pull the cable :) No hesitation, no cutting out, nothing!

Needless to say I was stoked. Ecstatic! I took a gamble with this and it paid off :) Hell, switching to a MAP set up is going to end up costing me less than $100 after selling my AFM and border air box.

    Emile got to work soldering...

This left me with some time to burn, so my dickhead mate and I entertained ourselves with some spare vacuum hose.

    Then the boost controller:

Would look awesome under the clock, but I want the clock! I'll be making a remote hi/low boost switch and installing it in the carbon that holds the ECU talk.

That's the boost source bridge in red and actuator bridge in blue. Green is the MAP sensor.

Bolted the solenoid on top of the master cylinder brace. I may need to put some tape over that or something if I'm to convince the police man it's an NA...

    It was a long day!

Heh, and I thought I had worked on my Zed in some pretty awkward positions. I'm now considering a part time career as a Contortionist after that night.

Thanks a lot for snapping my arse and throwing it up there... and I still can't believe what you clowns were doing with that Vacuum hose.

Will concede those BOVs sounded pretty sick and am now a little jealous. :p

Congrats on all the successes, was happy to help.

Why didn't you block off the recirc pipes? They'll be sucking in unfiltered air now.

Thank you so much :) To think you're helping me pull my engine too!

cheers man. I just ordered a some EL strips and inveters through that site you posted up a while ago.

Because I pulled those intake pipes all together :p

    [IMG][/img]

These are the pipes that wrap around from the engine bay, underneath the headlights to the intake t-piece. They connect to the recirc valves and the carbon canister on the driver's side.

They are also an absolute MOTHER****ER to remove! I left my headlights in, but took out the AC condenser fan and top intake pipes for access. The driver's side took me a solid 30 minutes to wedge out! Passenger side wasn't bad at all, came straight around pulling towards the original AFM location. They're both bolted in at two locations.

    Why? BECAUSE RACE CAR

    [IMG][/img]

this is what straight pipes coming off of the turbo intakes look like... pretty good access! I thought it'd be more complicated. Twin pod filters in the original SMIC locations here I come!

I decided to delete the carbon canister on the driver's side for more space. Ironically, it was with this that I pulled out the headlights again (not to mention the bloody HID ballasts I JUST mounted under there!), just a day or two after pulling out that intake piping... >_>

    before, after.

I then decided that mandel bent pipework would be better than a crappy cut/weld job.

so this is how she sits... with no face! :(

Just waiting on the pod filters (very specific Apexi ones, 6" long, 2.5" rubber intake). Then I'll strap it all up so it doesn't shake around, put the HID ballasts/headlights in and get some pictures :)
