Hi guys and girls, Just finished putting my aftermarket water pump on and after many dramas - new pump was rubbing on cam covers so I spaced it out, then the bolts weren't long enough to bolt on the fan so I made up new bolts, put it all together and now the belts are squeeking. Do you think this has something to do with the tension? I wasn't sure how much to tighten it up so I just put it back where I thought it was. Any ideas?
Did same thing & OH SHIT!! Mate did that and the shaft in the water pump BENT (could not beleive it) after driving it for about 1 hour. ERROR 11. New Nissan waterpump replaced. Hope this helps Stonie
water pump i'm anything but an expert on this, but all the 100k service kits you see advertised supply genuine nissan water pumps, never seen one with an after market one, that alone should give an indication as to the effectiveness of after market water pumps, cheers, go get yourself a genuine pump, there are things that shouldn't be scimped on in my opinion
I agree However I only replaced my water pump with a genuine less than 1,000 km's ago when I did my 100,000km service. That's why I didn't have much faith in the OEM ones. Could there be any other reason?
maybe maybe you just got a dud genuine one with the 100k service, that sort of thing has happened to me a few times with other cars cheers also sometimes belts squeak because they are too tight as well as too loose, most pump belts should have between 15mm - 20mm semi-free movement when fitted , that applies to just about any v-belt
Sharft 5mm too short Yeh brand new after market waterpump shaft bent due to extending the fan pully, because the shaft in the after market is 5mm to short. Man was I pissed off when it happen.
water pump Why would you put after market .I did mine last week- genuine pump $92.Thermostat a bit rude at $40 plus new short water pipes $30.when your that far do the lot.was tempted to even replace the timing belt.nissan charges $650 just in labour for water pump what a joke
water pump ... .. in the past 18 months there have countless posts by our respected "gurus" clearly advising NOT/NOT to touch aftermarket waterpumps ..OEM only ...!!
