Someone should do a conversion bracket to mount the alternator where the AC pump currently lives, spread the weight out more evenly & make access to components easier for repairs/maintenance.

People have talked about making the factory bracket out of ally for years, if someone else were to copy now it would seem a tad rude to say the least but it's not as if it were actually a new idea, just Brett was the first? to have the balls to risk the financial input for the possibly very small market.

Number 41 on the list, note the date of the thread - and that is part two.

JP/UAS are currently fitting one of their old race car motors to a customers car. This was built about ten years ago -it has alloy mounts.

Brett wouldn't be the first to build but probably the first to make them commercially available. Like everything he does I'm sure they are too quality.

    Weight savings hey?

I don't know if this is a pump difference or a model difference.

There is a difference between the s1 and s2 power steering pump bracket. The one I have on my car at the moment is cast aluminum. From what I seen on the s1 they appear to be cast iron.

When you have one in each have there is a very noticeable weight difference.

Funny you should say that, exactly what I'm doing. I'm just using the AC bracket and idler pulley for tensioning.

And the AC bracket is already alloy :zlove:

Genuine question. What is the benefit of it being lighter? If something, only to a track car?

Weight saving helps everything. In the case of this bracket though it's just the satisfaction lol.. you can't hold the oem bracket without cringing.

This sort of weight saving is only really of benefit for a track car (circuit or drift), and only after removing everything that can be removed for free.

And you can't see it, so no bling factor either :p
