    service

get it serviced or service it yourself. Mine used to do the same thing before it let go the first time! then one day driving home from work at about 80 km/h it let go with a bang and sounded like I had dropped the exhaust and it got wrapped around the tail shaft ( Bang, clunk clunk clunk clunk ) lost 1st, 2nd, 4th and reverse. not fun :(

this is sounding like a conman problem with 300zx autos... was there a certain batch that was shit because surely not every1 is just forgetting a service

You will find the TPS is probably not set correctly.

Number 1 cause of autos not shifting smoothly

+1 being the owner of a TT auto I will vouch for this myself, it is very likely to be the cause.

What do you expect from a 20 + year auto which has probably had a few floggings in its time..

I am dropping the auto gearbox this weekend.
Manual is on the cards and it is not that hard to learn + its a lot more fun.
Do the conversion, you won't regret it!

driving in heavy traffic isn't an excuse. you own a sports car, make it more of a sports car :br:

LOL.... I never got comfortable driving a full manual, I blame 20 years riding bikes for my inadequacies  Unless I really concentrate my left foot just doesn't push the clutch quick enough or far enough. Must still think it is easing the rear brake on.

I am obviously a pretender in my NA Auto.
I am pretending to drive :D

Maybe that paddle shift conversion is an option one day when I have more dollars than sense. :)
