Well i dont know about you guys but i had a rude awakening this morning.

I was sleeping at my girlfriends place in Greenwood last night when this morning i was woken up by my girlfriends mum.... to her saying my cars in the middle of the road.

I went outside to find my car was in the middle of the road with the rear passenger quarter panel smashed in, the passenger targa top off, and the door wide open.

There doesn't seem to be any ignition damage. As far as i can see so far, they have only stolen x2 prescription glasses and a bottle opener from the car... They didn't touch my deck that was in there or anything like that....

I made a police report just in case i needed to claim insurance for any reason.

Police just called me back to say i need to drop the car in to a police station for them to check the car over... (not normal i think?) So ill see how things go.

    Here are the pics!

PS. Anyone have a spare rear quarter panel window and seal laying around? isn't there a wreck in Perth atm?

you'd better get down to the newsagents this morning and get yourself a lotto ticket Tordek, very lucky not to either have it stolen or set alight, wouldn't you just love to once catch them in the act !!!
at least the damage appears relatively minimal
    cheers

Sucks about the windows but glad you didn't lose the lot. It is normal for the police to request you bring the car to the station rather than send a unit out to you potentially tying up their resources they will do all print dusting and photos at the station. Ive had that done a couple of times

    Cheers

yeah, my mum woke him up. the neighbours up the road heard the alarm go off, the lady didn't go out straight away though, so no chance of catching the bastards. though when she saw the car in the middle of the road she came to our house and banged on the door, woke my mum who woke adam. weird thing is none of us heard the alarm, especially my parents who would have only been 10metres away. still sucks though, but could have been a lot worse.

btw: we live opposite the high school there, so could have just hid in there anyway.

and we took the car to the cop shop, and forensics are coming around today or tomorrow. but chances of getting good prints etc is pretty slim. :/ still. worth a try.

    Theiving pricks!

It would be great if the prints they get of the car are a match with some crims they have on record. Just as good as being caught red handed. Someone attemped to flog my older bros ford recently, fortunately all they got was some tools, when he had his gps in the glove box! Hows that for lucky, we think something must have spooked them before they got too far into the operation. The police got some nice healthy prints off the car, in this case they were kids/teenagers cos of hand size. But if they've done it once they will do it again and hopfully get charged for the attemped theft of my bros car too.

Fluffy Dice are from Jinxed ZigZag cruise a little while ago...there was a lucky raffle...and i won... heh

My car has immobilzer and alarm.... which is why i think they left the car in the middle of the road.... They litrully rolled the car down the driveway (on hill) on to the road to start it...couldnt and left it with doors open on the middle of a road....couldnt believe it... i was gonna come and see u today simmo my man...but gotta wait on them forensics now :( dont know when they will arrive.... i might have to leave the beast home all week because i cant afford to replace the glass window and seal until atleast next week some time unless someone has a wreak that has a spare one that they want to donate or sell really cheap.

thanks for all of the support guys n girls :)

dont quite feel so pissed off right now...

And yes...if i did manage to catch them in the act....someone would be in a lot of pain right now...and i'd still have that broken window because i'd crack their head on it as pay back </physco streak> :p

ps. get this, my gf's parrents car was there....unlocked... and they chose my car.... :(

    Question about stealing a zed

Just out of curiosity how hard would it be to steal a zed that doesnt have an imobiliser? For an experienced thief are they a faily straight forward car to hot wire? My car has an immobiliser, but the alarm siren is fried atm, wondering how likely it would be that a thief could steal it? Many forum members had their zeds stolen? Cheers

With my car, they broke the back quarter panel, unlocked the targa roof, pulled that off, then reached over and undid the passenger door.. I think they must of known how the Z works...either own one or has been in one before...because no one knows how to normally undo a targa roof from the outside without looking.... Im guessing they either wanted a thrash or wanted it for parts...

    Cresta Has Replacement 1/4 Windows

See the "For sale by business" section and give John from Cresta a call.

Luckily there was noting stolen, or any major damage done to the car. Hope the ba%$^ds get caught soon.

    AndyMac Better than you

With a locked zed with no immobiliser I'd guarantee I'd be driving it in under 3 minutes...probably 1.5

Sorry to see that Adam, glad the damage was minimal but.
2+2 replacement glass should be plentiful but. Does your insurance company offer replacement glass once a year for one item? Might be easier that way and no excess.

Your immobiliser will still do it's thing with a fried alarm. All the alarm does is provide noise.

How secure it is depends on the brand and the quality of install. Some are easy as to bypass, I have a huge list at work for how to bypass (no need to spend time removing) even some of the bigger brand name immobilisers, even those nice brandt keypad alarms that you get on newer WRXs.

Personally I have a high end 3-point system and am very cautious where I park my car. It's pretty much always garaged. Insurance isn't really a financially viable option due to being under 25 so I am definately getting quicktrack when the engine goes back in.

Bottom line is if someone wants your car they can and will take it, all you can really do is make it more difficult for them. I think things like clublocks and brake locks are a good idea as a detterent, think of it as one more obstacle for a potention thief.
