    Thoughts?

Shitty that they don't retain the factory head shields, those are gun

    No idea on costing yet

    seen these

    better design

Great for a big VG wanting to run 3071 onwards with a proper T3 flange (which I believe will be an option)

Don't need better flow than MS with a T25/28 flange turbo

    .
also with his business and delivery they will be ready and shipped by 2020 :p

Agree. I will be getting these with my new set up . Ive been keeping an eye out on these on facebook. They may work well with 3071.

There's a lot more to it than a constant flow of gas through one port at a time, we all know that's simply not the situation the exh manifold deals with.

Sure virtual testing & flow bench testing will show improvements in that particular situation but what about all the other important factors to consider.

When Nissan designed the R35 GTR the exh turbine housing was built in to the exh manifolds to reduce the mass in the system so that the car would pass emission testing. There were other benefits from this that helped the car also, reduced overall weight, reduced exh gas temperature loss before the turbine, saving space etc etc.

Length of runners IS important also, it's all very well & good making a nice smooth path that flows well BUT it's not going to be helpful if you end up with the pressure waves from cylinders interfering with the evacuation of gases from others. I'm not saying Ash has not considered this but so far I've seen no comment on tuned length or anything along those lines.

On that subject, I see no EGT probe bosses in the design?? surely if people are going to this extreme with components in their build they SHOULD be looking at tuning the engine correctly using a DECENT ECU that will allow individual fuel trims for cylinders to help deal with the inevitable discrepancies between them. Hell even my little play toy has adjustments made to suit.

The stock manifolds ported will support 500Kws at the hubs with no issues, I've seen this with my own eyes (not just read it on the net).
I've also seen a car gain next to nothing swapping from ported stock to AMS manifolds because of numerous other issues with the car left unresolved - more or less proving the exh manifolds were not the limiting factor for that car.

I'm keen to see now stuff out & props to those doing it but if these are going to weigh as much as I think they might & are going to sap as much heat out of the exh gases & then dump into the engine bay as I think they might - then I'll I'll be waiting patiently for the next new product from who ever or where ever.

Pretty sure Mike C from NZ got a set of the original Jap stainless tube manifolds not so long ago, maybe more yummy IMO but I bet much more $$$$ for those.

  6. tassuperkart

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

What was also reasonably clear in the synopsis was that the manifolds are not really a gasflow bottleneck anyway.
The real benefits wont be seen until further virtual testing is done taking into account accoustic influences and importantly, exhaust pulse clashing blah from other ports and finally, subjective testing is carried out on an actual engine.

IMHO, benefits will be incremental at best.

However, I would personally run these manifolds purely on appearance alone! Visual porn!!! Shame they cant be actually seen on a TT!!!!

I asked Ash if he was going to accommodate heat shields into the design. He said it was a good point and will look into it.

Well theese are the things Ash does with his time. Serving customers is just a bi project for when he got nothing else to do. And that hapens from time to time :)
They will come out when R&D is done. Then you John will keep your dirty little hands off them

    Excuse me?

It appears you may have missed the recent activities of the "Where's Ash" saga for the last 6 months. Like taking payment for products and no product or contact for months on end. "Serving customers is a byproject"? You mean to say that customers and paid product delivery takes a back seat to his pastime of product development? I can't believe you're defending these attributes.

I'm not aware of anyone buying from Ash who didn't get their goods, or get any less than they paid for. Unless you have any first hand experience to share I don't think it's appropriate for you to be insinuating any wrong doing.

Yeah I've seen all the stuff on TT.net over the years. There's usually two sides to the story; mostly guys who want bespoke race car parts at off the shelf shopping-hack prices.

The last compaint was from a guy who ordered one set of turbos, then changed his mind and wanted a bigger set with V band covers and custom intakes etc, then changed his mind a third time, meanwhile goes to prison for a couple of months on drug charges, and wants ash to sell the first and second set of turbos he ordered so he can pay for the third...

I think there's always an element of "read between the lines" when dealing with forums. If these guys had so much trouble why didn't they request a refund via paypal?

    Of course

But when you get years of the same complaint with the same guy (or business)and same problem ...you tend to take note .:)

Great products ,don't buy direct .simple .

If you do and problem arises ...well then suffer for not listening :p
