I'm thinking of removing my spare tyre, and using the extra space to house some subwoofers. If anyone has some pics, I'd love to see them to get some ideas !!!In Victoria you don't need a spare tyre for your car to be roadworthy (don't know about other states?), as I would rather use an inflation kit or get RACV to tow me home if it's serious:Vehicle Standards Information No. 26SECTION A - Wheels and Tyres Wheels : "There is no requirement for a spare wheel to be carried on a vehicle and the Standards for Registration exclude wheels not normally used in service from any requirements. However, where a spare wheel is carried it must be securely retained in or on the vehicle. "
Ben (Blipman) has a pair......>> In the floor of his car, maybe someone got a pic of them in Gilgandra.
Pics of install and build We made a fiberglass tub to get every possible cubic centimeter of box volume, a wooden box would have wasted too much space, or you could get good volume but then lose boot depth. The icky bit. This is actually fairly late on, a lot had been done before this point [image]http://yoyo.its.monash.edu.au/~blipman/trash/install1.jpg[/image]The tub finally finished [image]http://yoyo.its.monash.edu.au/~blipman/trash/install2.jpg[/image]Attached to false floor. Amps go on either side [image]http://yoyo.its.monash.edu.au/~blipman/trash/install3.jpg[/image]The top piece [image]http://yoyo.its.monash.edu.au/~blipman/trash/install4.jpg[/image]The final result. [image]http://yoyo.its.monash.edu.au/~blipman/trash/subs.jpg[/image]WAAAAY simplified to get something presentable for Gilgandra (we started on the Sunday of the previous week, made my life a living hell leaving it that late!). The amps will eventually be exposed (the orange they mixed up for me wasn't even close!), there will probably be a cap in there and most of it will be behind perspex so the boot is usable. Much work to do, we severely ran out of time. And finally, don't ask, but call it the right place at the right time. And I don't even like the stuff. What the!! :-0 .... ... I thought you'd been drinking a LOT of pepsi when I first glanced at that picture (maybe trying to stay awake while you finished the project ) We were really impressed with your setup, looks excellent. Just want to ask though, what is the fibre glass mould for?
The fiberglass mold is to build a sealed box for the subs. You get about 10 times better sound and volume if subs are in a decent volume box. It could have been box made from wood, but due to the unusual shape of the boot floor and spare tyre area it would have been difficult to build and fairly inefficient. With a fiberglass tub you get every little bit of volume possible and a nicely sealed box for your subs to use Ben
