soo.. my friend has a 34 skyline. cooked his turbo, and is now putting a 3071r with .50 housing on.

So mod list will be GT3071R (.5) housing.
    Apexi AFC
    Pod intake
    and 3" exhaust system
    hi flow cat.

This work wont be completed until Xmas time.

    now,
for those that are not familiar.

my Z in feb is going under the knife to have GT28R's put on.
740cc injectors, nistune, 3" dumps, 3" test pipes. FPR, twin air intake and a bit of a service done.

    SO mod list will be
    GT28R turbo's
    740cc injectors
nismo FPR (or other brand if i change my mind by opinion and quality)
    twin Air intake.
    3" dumps,
    3" >2.5" test pipes
    ballistic racing cats
    some nice magna muffs :p
    Nistune ECU.

So now im being called out to the goulburn speedway begining next year ..
im curious to see how this unfolds because i know the a 3071 is rather responsive with skylines.

should i open a betting poll LOL ?

    lol

    @ moula,

i have plenty of time to add cams to that list HOWEVER, im under the belief that the stock cams would be more to my use in this situation or am i wrong ?

and yes anti ;) i already lined up some semi slicks lol.

Is it AWD / attesa or whatever those things have?
If so, you're rooted. If not, I'd probably still back the R34.

and WHY did you have to start this 4 months before the jump?!

Depends on who is the better driver. Also tyres. Both cars will be quick.

Second this. Both cars are similar weight, both have similar stock 1/4 mile times...

Diff ratio may be a little better on the R34...

Get the launch right and it'll be real close.

    GTS GTT or GTR ?

If its a GTR cya lada :p

Ive driven both cars as my mate has a worked R34 GTT with similar mods but smaller turbo and that feels faster then my old Z, how ever that had stock turbos with your GT28's id say it would be close. Also z's seem to handle better then R34's unless its a GTR then clearly not lol

Stock r34 gtr pulls 13.7 sec 1/4 mile. The addition of 4wd has pros and cons at the drag strip... Even if it was a gtr, he would have a very similar engine set-up/power. But it would all come down to the launch.

Also assuming his mates car is not a gtr as it would be running twin 3071's if that was the case (r34 gtr is a tt) ;)

What would be the cons of having 4wd on the strip ? the only thing that comes to mind is some power loss through the 4WD tranny.

    More drivetrain loss
    Heavier

Ive seen a 60 ft times on 10 sec gtrs which are comparable to some of the 60ft times right here on the forum with a zed. Ie: awd is easier to launch, but rwd can achieve the same results with a decent driver. ;)

You reckon? I have a lot of trouble with the evo, you either bog down or burn the clutch something shocking.

lol yeah was reading the skyline GTR owners fry their clutches at the drags. I guess easier in the respect that you don't have to worry about wheelspin a much and focus more on not bogging down and feathering the clutch... Then again, I can't speak from experience with an awd car as I havent owned one. Just going off what i have read. :)

Can you go asfar as taking out the passenger seat for weight reduction? I've always wondered whether that was the norm or considered as cheating?
