Why are they so cheap on the for sale page? What are they like to live with every day? Comfortable? Just looking to close up the gap in my wheel arch, not wanting to slam it! Should I get them?

Slam it, as in wheel hit the fender and mangle it when they break?

Track records aside, I have yet to hear of any documented cases where a set of AMS coilovers have failed. Especially given that, if there was a case as yet, there would be so much publicity the internet would explode.

As a disclaimer, I am not an AMS advocate, nor would I purchase these coilovers myself. I would be purchasing a set of PowerTrix SS or anything else before the AMS ones.

I just don't think they should get a bum rap for something that hasn't happened... yet ;)

Soooo I should just get lower springs hey? Or does the coilovers offer a low ride with still the same comfort? I'm not too knowledgable with these sort of things so the help is appreciated :)

Cam you can get lowered springs with aftermarket shocks...quite a few people including myself have KYB shocks with king springs...would cost you cheaper than coils but if your going down that path, then save the extra & get some powertrix or tein coilovers

Lower spring rates will have more travel, hence won't be as harsh. Traditionally coilovers have quite high spring rates, to reduce suspension travel in lowered cars. Less travel = less chance of having a wheel/tyre come into contact with the guards, etc.

If you just want a slightly lower car, look into the KYB shocks from Coz.

KYB shocks and lower springs or stock springs? I know I can't keep the ride comfort the same as standard, but just wanting as I said the gap closed in the wheel arch but not over hanging/comfort

    I have strict standards I know :p

I have THIS setup on my car. It's lower than stock, but still relatively comfortable.

Best way to decide is to ride along/drive in a car with different setups. Hard to do, but if you know what you want you'll know what you don't want if you try it.

I have the eibach springs/kyb gr2 shocks on my zed and it's a nice ride. Hit up brisz he might still have 1 set of the eibach springs going for cheap.

Yup, I'd go with that for a mild drop and enjoying comfort

Sold a set to a customer down here, quality appears really good for the money, fitted fine, work fine, can't comment on lifespan as they have not been in there long.

I have Koni adjustable dampers and King springs in my blue car,
KYB and Eibach springs in another Z,
REMOVED tien coilovers and fitted Monroe and Dobie (spelling???) in another of my Zs

Coilovers typically are much harder riding, you CAN change the springs to alter the ride and the height etc but for normal road use and even light track work a good semi standard set up is mint.

Dodgy photo but it gives you an idea, this is with the eibach springs. Also, shocks don't affect ride height, only springs.

Careful, some shocks have a circlip on the body and more than one groove for the clip, this gives you options for the position of the lower spring seat and therefore ride height. ;)

Thanks! Well by the looks of the pic that's about the height I want... And including that, my stock rims being smaller, the roof line will be lower ;)

Non-adjustable shocks don't effect ride height, happy?
