Hey guys, My car idles high, around 1300rpm or so. I adjusted the idle by disconnecting the IACV and rotating the valve clockwise until my idle was around 700rpm, and then upon reconnecting it it raised to 900rpm. This is all fine, but as soon as I did it cylinder no. 6 decided to stop firing. Disconnecting the coilpack/injector made no difference to idle, hence why I know it is cylinder 6. I turned the idle back up a bit to help the misfire, but what could cause this problem? Car still has an s1 PTU. Also on an unrelated note, what does the P in PTU stand for?
Power. You have probably disturbed the plug for either the Coilpack or the Injector on #6 cylinder while disconnecting the AAC
I reconnected the coilpack/injector multiple times and it made no difference when the idle was low. I forgot to mention, once I turned the idle up a bit I could disconnect the coilpack for cylinder 6 and the idle does drop, which makes me think thats its not a wiring issue as the cylinder does function at a higher idle.
Still could be weak spark/shitty injector. Building revs up causes more fuel/faster spark. Not gonna rule the engine out completely yet haha
this post saved me posting the exact same question. im going through the exact same thing right now. im glad i seen this let me know how you go with solutions mate
Car isn't currently missing as I turned the idle up... so weird. Pretty sure my timing is out by one tooth aswell. This could be related. Got caught up today installing coilovers and ran out of time to check, i'll get it done over the weekend
