Hey guys, I don't remember everyone who lives here, but need some serious help pls guys.. My heater core has decided to shit itself today, have any of u had any experience in replacing one, if so maybe a tech day? - that or possibly a hand for bypassing it until I can get home to Dubbo where I can get it done with dad.. I have also though maybe, being an NA, that a chemtech or similar product run through may fix it, seeing as it is only leaking slightly.. has anyone tried this at all? had any experience? or anything? Any advice, help or anything is accepted pls!
Stay away from chemtech if you want to keep the car. See the 2 hosesbehind the engine that go into the firewall. Pull one of them out, make the other one loop back on the engine side where you pulled the other one off. You don't need a flow through the now bent hose.
i have heard that, what is the reason we avoid it? just out of intrigue.. i looked, but i can't even squeeze a hand down there to swap that hose across? - is there any tricks at all??
Try a bit harder, accept getting hurt, invent new techniques you haven't thought about, don't give up !! Ah, the chemtech etc aren't very selective on what they block.
lol, so thats what everyone does? - just flicks one of the hoses accross? - i cant even see one of the pipes? i have a full loom running accross the top on one side, and then it splits into like two on the other which cover everything up.. i might have to have a tackle at it tomorrow... at this stage for tonight, its a rag in the footwells i spose
If you can't a way to do it and there aren't any members who can help take it to Craig Hall in Belco. They've looked after my zed for easy things like that and I havent had any probs with em
Its not that hard, just lift the loom up, disconnecting what you need to do that, disconnect battery, neg 1st then positive. Also easier with engine cold and a new piece of hose as it will be more pliable. Use new hos clips
You only need to join the two Heater pipes that come from the engine, NOT the two pipes entering the firewall(lower down, behind the engine). Once you have connected those pipes, no more coolant will enter the Heater Core(or be lost from the engine/radiator).
