hey has this happen to any1 b4 when i turn my head lights on the little symbol that lights up in the dash doesn't light up, but when i hit the brakes its lights up.??? is this a warning for something?
if you read Vader's post you'll see that the red "Lights" light indicates a problem with your taillights. Not that your headlights are on...
one of your brake lights are out.. your parkers a fine (front and rears.. but one of the brake lights are out) brakes and rear parkers are same bulbs... also the "lights" light should still come on even if your headlights are off and you step on the breaks..
Yep there is a little black box in the rear end full of wizardry that is designed to tell you if you have blown a tail light or stop light bulb. That is what you are seeing.
i just checked just then both of the brake lights r working. When i turn my headlights on that symbol on the dash thats telling u that ur headlights is turned on dont light up. But when i use my brake its lights up.
The light on the dash (Red light with the word LIGHTS) is a warning that one or more of your brake lights is faulty. It's got nothing to do with your headlights. If it still lights up, and your brake lights (all of them) are ok, then you need to fix the brake warning circuitry - which is probably not going to be easy). My first stop would be to clean the bulb connectors.
the little symbol im talking about is the one on the top right hand corner telling u that ur head lights is on.
do yourself a favour, look at the diagram someone posted above, find the symbol you're looking for, following the line that's pointing to it and post the name of it.
its not on there. my dash look different from that one. but the symbol im talking about its the same one the on headlight switch. its a image of a lilttle light with 3 lights. sry for the newbness.
There are two bulbs in each brake light - check all four. There are also two versions of the wiring in the Zed. One version passes the third brake light through the sensor, and the other one doesn't. In case yours is one that does you will need to check the three bulbs in the third brake light as well. If all the bulbs turn out OK, then your sensor unit is faulty. They are fussy little nasties and faulty units are no surprise. Often they can be brought back to life by taking them apart and refreshing the solder tracks and joints with a soldering iron and a little fresh solder. If everything turns out Ok and the problem is still there then you have two choices - bypass the sensor unit completely (pretty easy) or pull the bulb from the warning light on the dash (some dismantling required). Good working sensor units are not easy to find and there are lots of cars out there with the unit permanently bypassed.
hey man where abouts do you live... if you want a quick fix bring it to me and i will tell you whats happening... but firstly.. if its not on the pic posted could you take a photo and post it so everyone will know what your talking about?
