51CZX - The family zed

Well the "flamin zed" has come to a halt. It has been stripped and will soon (hopefully) be sold off. It was a great car and spent heaps of time and money on her but it lacked one small thing that I now need... A back seat for my little girl

I went on the search and have been looking at numerous zed's that I could go about fixing up. After speaking to the wife we decided it would be ok if it was a N/A as it was gonna have our little girl on board and we didnt need speed. And I decided it had to be manual.. And we came accross this..

Last night I went to pick it up. Borrowed a mates navara and hired a car trailer. Almost threw my GPS out the window mid trip when I took me through West Melb. The lanes were tight and towing a car trailer sucked lol. Although on the way home sucked more trying to tow a loaded trailer down back streets.. I really need to update my maps I think..

Any ways here is the zed during the drive home lol

Plans for the car are to fix it up for raod worthy and get it registered.

Looking at the car quickly, I'm slowly coming up with a list of parts..
- Manual gear box,
- Drivers side seat belt,
- Drive shaft,
- Front passenger side fender,
- Front bar,
- Exhaust.

Once registered i'll be slowly doing the car up Plans include;
- Rims,
- Tint windows,
- Nice front bar,
- Repray the whole car.

This time round there will be no flames.. and no failside.. I promise It'll be getting slammed and that's about it

Sad to hear your green flamer Zed is going. I thought it looked really good. I hope to see your new zed to a simalliar effect because those green flames were downright awesome.

 

Glad you're still on the z scene mate. You can't be zedless with a z tat!

Looking forward to seeing how she progresses. I am sure she will be a beautiful z by the time you're finished. And maybe your daughter's first car and then you can do your tt?

 

She will can't wait to see her face when I take her for a drive with no roof on lol..

Lol.. but my little's girls name starts with a Z too I missed the zed scene to much, and there phat ass..

The flames will hopefully live on with who ever buys the shell..

Making room in the car port this week and then pushing the zed into the garage so progress can start

 

Well I've made a little bit of progress with my new project..

Had a changing of the guard out with the old, and in with the new.. Looks like the old flamin zed has sold, so as soon as it goes I'll be able to push the red one in and slowly start work

Had my dlsr camera out so I thought I'd have a little bit of a play while I was out there..







Also looks like I scored a front bar and a passenger side front fender for my new zed too

 

Didn't you have a monster of an engine or something... were you going to run it with Stock Intercoolers?

And need moar close ups of the red one!

Nah I had monster coolers to go with the monster engine.. but sold them too

Red one will be getting a clean and pushed into the car port as soon as the flamin zed gets picked up

Also have a rear infill panel too

Progress! It's great seeing something that was originally ready for the scrap yard come back to life, alive and kicking.

Still got the dslr just reading how you tok those fancy photos formy next shots

Got the Canon 550d with the twin lens kit also got a tripod and polarised lens.. Still learning but at the moment I'm loving the auto shoot and clear pics it gives..

Ha I remember that bar and the many hours dribbles poured into rubbing it down!! Good luck working out what that shit is across the top but give it a swipe of fine filler and and it should come up great. All the hard work has been done for ya lol

 

Well I've made a little bit of progress today. Since the garage is now clear I decided to push the new car in.

We gave the car a real good wash before towing it in, then walked around the car and had a bit of a look at what needs doing..

To get the car on the road it needs:-
- Dents removed
- Fix rear hatch and fit infill panel
- Passenger side front window surround needs replacing
- Manual gearbox sourced, and fitted
- Clutch pedal etc fitted back in to car
- Tail lights fitted in properly
- Rejoin wires next to the drivers seat.
- Fit all ineterior back together
- Replace targa handles
- Source a drivers side seat belt (non piller)
- Source a battery, and a battery cowl and fit them
- Source a engine fan
- Fit exhaust (after fixing it)
- Fit s2 PTU
- Service engine and check over

Once the car is registered I'll be looking at:-
- Mag wheels
- Coilovers / suspension gear
- Maybe a body kit, defo no failside
- Repaint entire car
- Tint windows
- Upgrade zorst
- Upgrade motor with more cyclinders once v6 has died.

The plan is to enjoy the car, it's a long term project so no rush. I choose the n/a as my daughter will be inside and no need for monster power (yet).

Since working on Rod's zed at the tech day, I've found the motivation to do some work on mine.

I tidyied up the rear hatch removing all the old glue and crap. And spoke with the nieghbor who knows how a welder so the rear hatch has been removed and will be getting it back soon once all the holes have been welded up then I can concentrate on getting this body straight and sourcing a box

Also found that there are other small things missing through out the car. Nothing to big, just fiddly stuff. Screw here, cover plate there.. Nothing that cant be fixed

For the gearbox try the z shop in Glen Irris, i was quoted $1000 for a re coed box fitted.
