UPDATE:

Have just got the car back after completely overhauling the transmission - $2500 has been spent on it, it has restored a lot of lost power.

New aftermarket tension rods (from forum member Rob260) and new A1RM brake pads front and rear were installed today as well.

Well its an Alpine headunit which has their own unique auxillary input called 'Ai-Net'. It's basically an S-Video plug which then goes to the 3.5mm Stereo RCA end. You can use the 3.5mm Stereo RCA end to connect to anything, pretty straight forward. I ran the cable up under the transmission tunnel and it comes out next to the passenger seat.
Got the bracket from eBay to suit my 1st gen. Ipod Nano.
