Its been so long since i have done any brake work on the old Z that i cannot for the life of me remember where the ABS unit is situated and the procedure for bleeding it and the brake system. Z is an 1989 J spec 2 Seater TT Any input appreciated.. Thanks..
I think it is between the rear shock towers to the right on 2 seater. 2+2 is just behind the right rear shock tower in the boot area.
The ABS unit is in front of the drivers side shock tower under the curved plastic interior peice behind the drivers seat. It just unclips up and off. It may have a bit of insulation on top of the ABS unit. It's a great spot as you can bleed it while sitting in the drivers pumping brake pedal seat as it's so close
The brake line connectors are on the correct side and was going to say that the level sensor plug seems to be on the opposite side, but I just checked mine and it has a plug on both sides, so I'm guessing this one does too. The only problem you're going to have with this one is that the original ABS style master cylinder only has two fluid outlets, one front, one rear, and the font left-right split is done at the ABS unit. Therefore you need to block the port closest to the firewall. I live in NZ so nobody stocks anything in their grass parts huts, so I had to drive back up the rutted dirt track (SH5), dodging all of the wandering sheep and come up with a new plan from my Hobbit Hole. I ended up using a grub screw (10mm x 1mm thread) and a little crush gasket I made by cutting a little disc to fit out of some 1.5 mm thick aluminum sheet. I did a few tests first on the old master cylinder and it works really well (the reverse flare on the master cylinder cuts a very nice seal into the aluminum disc). It probably sounds a bit agricultural but it works really well. Anyway, as you likely live in the glorious civilization of Australia you'll likely have some sort of much less janky option readily available to block off the extra brake line port.
