search i made a thread on this bones ebs was cheap as and is the bomb MBC is cheap and simple but can have issues with boost spike and cn only be adjusted in the engine bay unles you run the lines into the car which can give false radings as the lines would be too long imo
you care to tell me how i can search anything with 3 letters, maybe you know something i dont ,but thanks for answering 1 out of the 4 questions lol
Hey simmo, I personally use an MBC, it's an older Trust one that seems to hold boost fine and doesn't spike (i'm running on a constant 12psi). A lot of my friends are using EBCs, and apart from being more expensive, they are a lot more fiddly to setup. EBCs do, however provide additional functions like Peak Boost recall (will remember highest boost reached), overboost warning (will warn if detects a boost spike). Of course EBCs also allow multiple boost settings, like low boost / high boost settings for different drivers / driving conditions. I have heard some EBCs do struggle to make / hold boost at the higher ranges, but can't comment on this.. One more thing, for EBCs, i'd reccomend Greddy ProfecB spec 2. (neat unit and a lot of people i know run them) MBC anything semi-decent is fine, pretty much any Turbosmart MBC will be decent. -Kirill
-boost control- haha I had the bones bc and it worked like a charm Very happy with it. Easy to use, held boost well and cheap. After spending all this money on new motor tho, I didn\\\'t want to risk thousands on having a cheap controller fail - it prob would\\\'ve been fine but I didn\\\'t want to risk it since they haven\\\'t been around long to test durability... Also, don\\\'t know how well they go on higher boost levels - like 20+... Top unit tho for moderate levels IMO. I now have a profec B spec II - will know more about it once car is running properly EDIT: I also used to use boost jets which were fine also for lower boost, and I also have used the bleed type boost controller (simark) and it was fine for lower boost aswell
ah ur to dificult simmo just get a ebc with a chrome bezel sound and you will be fine TRY this http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=267517
a good ebc has MANY advantages over a mbc. my fav advantage would be that you are able to keep the wastegates closed longer to gain full boost quicker
The mods setup some exceptions to that rule I thought? Never tested it myself, but I thought they allowed alot of common words to be searchable like oil, EBC etc.?
I use an electronic boost controller I chose an electronic boost controller because I wanted more control over my boost curve. With my boost controller I can run different boost at different speeds, have warnings set if it over boosts, have graphing capability of my boost curve, fine tune response and have peace of mind. I also intend to push my car past the limits where I would safe with a manual boost controller and I believe in the adage "Do it once, do it right"[/QUOTE] As above. MBC's are good for lower boosts. They are cheap, and fairly accurate for what they cost. EBC's have lots of functions for those of us who are pushing the car that bit harder who want control over how the car responds. More expensive. If you're not mech/elec minded they can be a pain to setup. Simark MBC was incredibly popular on SAU. Not sure if they still are. My mate has one in his turbo liberty and it seems consistent. Plenty of people swear by them I use a Blitz ID-III which is a little more expensive than the average controller but deserves the excellent reputation it has on twinturbo.net. Apexi AVC-R is popular but wouldn't be my choice until I could test one out due to the large number of overboost issues I've heard about them. Eboost2 has a shit load of features like the ability to control water injection and the sort. Seems to be pretty well liked by most of the reviews I've seen but they have to be hidden in a glovebox or similar cause they are ugly as sin, IMHO. The Blitz i-Color is a less used EBC but seems to be able to do everything the ID-III can do and more. :zlove:
If you have an MBC without an aftermarket boost gauge you are playing with fire. Good idea to factor in the cost of a gauge with the mbc- more often than not a decent ebc will only be a bit more expensive (with the added ability to spool quicker!). That said, ive heard good things about the flying performance ebay mbc. $30, Minimal spiking and holds boost well. If i get another zed one day like you simon, will chuck in an mbc as part of a budget build
