Got a close up of the flanges? Normally, the Veilside system is a full turbo back system. However, it makes no sense to make the flanges sit differently than stock. I seriously think the flanges were modified before you got it, because with you h-pipe bolted up, it's install upside down and wrong. Gotna close up of the flanges on the h-pipe? I wanna see what it looks like. Because your flanges are definitely facing the wrong way.
Expect to pay through your teeth if you ask any exhaust place to change your dumps. I did it with the engine in, gearbox out and it was a f'in BITCH of a job. The place that built the rest of my system from Dumps back told me if I hadn't changed the Dumps myself, they wouldn't have touched it. MoulaZX
So clearly you really are not Tony Stark then... Looks like you need more help then me on this one mate, lol. Would have swung by for a bit tomorrow if I wasn't rostered on this weekend. MoulaZX
Can't say that I do dude, but I'll jack the car up on the weekend and snap you a few pictures of it. In the mean time I have these which I haven't posted up yet Why is it so much to have my dumps changed? I pulled off the full dumps-back system when we did the rear main and it was a piece of piss. Just needed an extension and a breaker bar. Had no problems at all. always! Tell me when you're free and I'll see what we can work on
How she sits I got my hands on my girlfriend's DSLR so I thought I'd get some pictures of how the car as a whole sits at the moment seeing as I don't really have any in this thread so far. Keen to learn how to really use this thing. These are the most recent pics, with the FMIC, ADM front bar, Ganadors, ADM dummy lights and 2k tail lights as the current exterior mods. Apart from a VeilSide EC-1 wing, Stillen quad vented nose panel (currently in the post), some foggy ducts and a factory gun metal respray, this is pretty much how the body will look. Not how it'll sit though They're not pro quality, but sure beats the camera phone! It's a great camera so hopefully I'll get the hang of it. Next on the to do list... bucket seats! Because for the first time since I got it my Zed is not taking a wee on my garage floor -A
The zorst shop i used in Canberra only charged $200 to change out my dumps and install my O2 sensors (gearbox and engine in) so im sure it couldnt be that bad in sydney
The reason 2 exhaust places turned me down was because I had the factory dumps which are f'in notorious to remove, and God forbid you don't snap a stud.... or take the stud out on one of the two on the bottom, because the way the dump is designed, that stud can't even unscrew out entirely. After market Dumps aren't nearly as difficult to remove and plus you have the bonus of them not being bolted and rusting away for 20+ years making removal usually easy if you just break the initial lock of the nut. I was quite surprised how easy my Top Speed Divorced 2.5" Dumps came off this week, soon as I broke the lock with a 13mm spanner, practically took em out by hand. MoulaZX
I've got a few recommendations for exhaust shops so far but it sounds like I'll only need some flanges re-welded so I might just go local. I'll put on the dumps myself and have the shop do the rest. Somewhat on topic, my girlfriend seems to find this picture hilarious. Can't figure out why; it's just me cleaning up an exhaust flange.
GReddy pillar since there was a request... grabbed some sikaflex and glued on my slip-on GReddy pillar today. Cut off both ends and tapered out the edges where there was ~6mm of overhang. to try and stick it down as well as possible I think I used about 30 clamps... three regular screw type, three adjustable locking hand clamp wrench things, four adjustable spanners, about twenty paper clamps... and a wrench. bodge spec? my new motto. results speak for themselves though. ^1/2 way through LED conversion Very happy with it. The seam at the top is the only visable one and it fits in well considering it's just before the seam at the top of the pillar, then the interior trim of the roof, then the targa top edge... etc. Stillen quad vented nose panel's in the post -A ps: steering wheel will be for sale sometime
Yeah mine was for stock dump removal followed by installation of my Labree Super Splits and they were still happy with a $200 bill
I had a stud snap when I had tuneagent dumps fitted to my stock motor. What a nightmare... It was on the verge of being engine out i think it turned into a 7 hour job all told? Pretty sure we dropped the box to remove dump pipes for my engine pull. That's a job you want to again right??
Radical clamping man. Havn't seen that much steel used in a job for a long while The results look good.
I don't get it man. Why are you determined on going with gauges on the A-Pillar? Thats just asking for police attention. Thats the first bloody thing hes gonna see when you wind your window down. Don't get me wrong, it looks gorgeous and I'd love to be able to do the same, but unfortunately we live in this f'in nanny state that seems to think gauges on the A-Pillar or any gauges above the steering wheel will kill people. And to add insult to this, they're seemingly fine with GPS units. MoulaZX
Sounds alright. I'll put on the dumps myself, doesn't worry me. No way is it a box-drop job? eh. whatever it takes. thanks sir, cool when someone follows your build I just think it's clean. at the end of the day unless you've got something stupidly illegal like an exhaust pipe sticking out of your bonnet, defect rate is equal to dickhead status on behalf of the driver and ragequit status on behalf of the cop. i'll wing it and see how I go. not hard to remove if it comes to it.
I think the issue is all the other things that you will be slugged with at the same time. Wheel spacers, exhaust, FMIC, coilovers... not so easy to just replace.
Yeah, you're right. very fair call. I don't have much to say in my defense other than in the past I've been pulled over with detectable modifications without a word uttered. i'm hoping if I get pulled over the officer doing so will have the good sense to not get me for something like pillar gauges which really aren't dangerous.
Was going to say the same thing man...best to opt for a install in the free center console slot I reckon...or somewhere out of sight like my boost gauge Specially if your going to be running this on your p's
Ah smart...still might be a good idea opting for a din slot gauge setup...was just thinking of making one up now from MDF board...will test soon :br: Also what gauges are you installing then?
