Ganadors are on, got to get some pictures of them. I'm using my girl's digital SLR from now on, takes much better photos!

I'll grab some pics of how the car sits now. Got my LED conversion ("cool white) from Rob, and 2k spec tail lights are coming in the post. New pod filter should be coming soon too! Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be picking up some Recaro's too.

In the mean time... I'm going on holiday!

They were always on the order list, originally coming from CZP. Got lucky when I nabbed the ones in the for sale section recently, $300 to my door :) People that got in first were messing the seller around apparently.

The photos of Mitch on the last page are with the SLR, but I apparently had some wacky toned day setting on in those haha. I'll learn how it works and get some good ones.

My 2k tail lights have arrived from GT35R and they look great! A good as new OEM air flow meter also rocked up on my doorstep to replace my modified one. Stoked! I also just found a super-rare, genuine GReddy TRUST 60mm dual gauge piller, new in box for RHD Zeds. MINT.

Number plate relocation bracket also on its way.

Going on another holiday for the week, will get pics of installed ganadors/tails when I'm back! tails aren't even on yet. old ones will be up for sale, and are in flawless condition.

Progress coming... exhaust, pillar gauge, 2k tails and new AFM are here, also fixed the gearbox leak. Watch this space.

Long awaited VeilSide catback did not bolt up.

Genuine GReddy gauge pillar required extensive modification to sort of fit.

LED interior kit presented with three broken LED's.

Cracked a tail light clean in half trying to separate it.

Car currently sits with no rear mufflers and a stripped interior with no stereo.

BUT THE GEARBOX DOESN'T LEAK ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the problem with the veilside? Is it those 2 bloody top nuts that foul on the pipes or different issue?

Man that's a real shame, the joys of builds! Are you getting replacement LEDs for those 3 failures? Assuming there would be some form of warranty..

  11. I'll take that Evolution exhaust off your hands ;)

My non-resonated H-pipe has bolts in the wrong place. Even if I bodge it on with a huge gap where they don't line up, it'll leave the axle-back bolts upside down :(

The LEDs' will be replaced. They never worked in the first place! I think I'll order a new dash kit anyway, these have huge hot-spots.

I'll swap the evolution for your volks edgar! haha

Hey! The tail lights fit... they're OEM so I'd ****ing hope so.

Pics of pillar are available up top of the page dude! I've trimmed it off, and bought some sikaflex to fit it today. Fitted pics tomorrow!

take some close up photos of your H-pipe fronts, will compare it to mine.
Any chance that you're running aftermarket cats? Mine bolted straight up to the cats, with some difficulty getting access to the bolts.
Just a suggestion- get some wafer cutting discs and cut the flanges off the front of your h-pipe. Mount the H-hipe and align the cut flanges with your cats. Mark rotation with a nikko and take to your local metal fabricator (preferrable to an exhaust installer as they will be more experienced with TIG) Will be less than 1hr job for them to tig it back up for you.

Looks like someone reclocked those flanges. They should look like this.

This is odd... my flanges look exactly the same, but my cats don't line up like that. They're OEM cats.

When I bolt up my h-pipe like that, it leaves the axle-back bolts upside down. So if I bolted up the rear mufflers like that the hangers would be pointing at the ground, and the VeilSide badges wouldn't be facing outwards.

Not really too bothered to be honest. The plan all along was to get some good cats and dump pipes before heading over to an exhaust shop for some custom mandrel bent 2.5" front pipes to be mated to the cat-back. I was just hoping to fit the catback in the mean time :( I'll just have to do it sooner rather than later before I can go for rego. Bit of a PITA but worth it in the end.

Remember I have the non-resonated H-pipe. My theory is that it was sold as part of a full dumps-back system, so it bolted up to VeilSide front pipes. Bleh.

    Okaaaaaaaaaay sooo. where to begin.

Put on the 2k tail lights:

    Then things just went downhill.

I soon discovered that the BRAND NEW IN BOX GENUINE GREDDY DUAL GAUGE HOLDING PILLAR... isn't a full pillar replacement.

Would you have picked that? sigh. so it's a slip on pillar.

    and it fits like shit.

Note the overhang on both pictures.

Looking at it in car, I figured it'd work pretty well once I hacked the shit out of it with a dremel. So I did. To great effect. I'll stick it up later today and put some pics up.

Next... we finally tackled the leaky gearbox!

The car arrived with what looked like a blown rear main - even though it had a brand new one fitted before it was driven down. We pulled the exhaust, driveshaft, gearbox and clutch off and found it was a leaky sump gasket. We fixed it, put it all back together, started it up and gearbox oil just went everywhere. Somehow we'd managed to puncture the rear gearbox seal with the driveshaft during the procedure.

Not being driven I didn't bother fixing it 'til my new exhaust showed up, as that's half the job right there. Ryan happened to be back in town for Bathurst, so he came 'round for a few days to help me out. Couldn't have done it without you dude!

Honestly it's not a hard job, but we made the mistake of trying to unbolt the catback for the first time in I don't know how long... should've done the full turbo back like we did last time...

Had a seized nut getting it off, which we cut up with a dremel before finally getting it off. Catback off! New seal went in eventually, old one was 20 years old and stuck in hard. By the looks of it it'd definitely had a slow leak for a long time - there was some serious dirty gunk stuck outside of it.

Shaft back in, tried to fit the catback - seized bolt in the OEM cats. sigh. we slept on it and in the morning I cut off one end with an angle grinder and drilled it out. Three snapped bits later the mother****er finally came out.

two of the three bits and speak of the devil...

sooo... who wants to see how it bolted up! haha

catback defs wouldn't bolt up. I decided if we could bodge it on as much as we could just to get it to the exhaust shop. wanted to hear it.

    ...nope!

Lined up like that. Bodged as so, the axle-back flanges were upside down. Sigh. **** it, I'll drive there as is.

thus concluded a great few days of expensive shit not fitting. woo ****ing who.

I got a new pod filter though! apexi :)
