Boost controller harness is on its way from RHDjapan. E85 setup has caught me in a bad spot atm, i have a month and a bit off work now as i work in schools. So i may just keep it as is till work starts up again, on the 1st of February. Code 34 isn't fixed but i did find out this ECU i have currently in the car is a shitty shitty jap chipped ECU, can't wait to throw the NIStune in. I think this chip uses the same maps for knock mapping and regular mapping as the car made absolute mincemeat out of a 180SX that was on 12PSI the other night. Next on the list is to replace that EBC harness, get my nistune installed + fix the code 34, tune her and enjoy till feb. I'm loving the response too, from the few times i've tried it, 3rd gear i get 7PSI by ~2700rpm.
I cant wait for more boost man, i was absolutely GUTTED when i saw my i couldn't go above wastegate pressure
Beating the 180 is probably about normal for a healthy Z on 7psi, my car made 155kw with a mostly seized turbo and the CAS retarded 10 degrees while a stock internals SR at 12psi probably makes 180 at the wheels. Add in all your response and flow mods and you probably have some nice torque at wheels.
Ok well, looks like i sorted the EBC, one of the pins on the unit was a bit iffy and i cleaned it up. Now i have to do a plenum pull, the amount of boost leaks i have is crazy, not to mention a big one which i believe is the plenum gasket.
Did the plenum pull over the weekend, gasket is fine. Turns out when the last owner had the catch can installed they left one PCV valve connected on the cam cover going to nothing so i capped off those ports. Took the car for a drive and it really didn't want to go, shook pretty hard and cat overtemp light came on.... limped home and start pulling coilpack connectors and #1 is stuffed. Need new connectors now.
Yay, more problems! Fixed #1. Took the #2 and #6 coilpacks out and idle wasn't affected at all, pull the coilpack and both have spark and i can hear the injectors click. Car seems to idle/run fine but when i come onto boost i get massive hesitation, almost as if the car is on one turbo. Everything was marked as it was taken off and went back on in the same order. Car drove fine before i put it up on stands.
Well, after fixing the problem with it dropping cylinders it seems my starter decided to not engage anymore....really random and happened after me and rob260 took it for a quick spin. Oh well onto the next problem On the plus side i did get my cup holder from Rob, looks really good.
so the starter has fallen out ? stripped lower bolt is common, i have done many heli coils over the years
Nah starter solenoid was stuffed, put in a new starter in half an hour and all good so far. Pissing off this Profec B Spec 2, wasted too much money on it. Going to a ball and spring turbotech V1 MBC for now till work starts up again. I have to say, 7PSI was ok for the first two weeks of driving.....but christ its so slow now.
Turbotech v1 came in today, turned her up to 11psi and pulled 2deg of timing. Different car now, but i need more.
Ok boost is now set to 0.91Bar and i've pulled 3* total out. Looks like i'll need a nistune and a good tune before i go for more but wow what a difference.
Not too worried about the AFM as its very easy to tune past it, however in the future i was planning to go to a dual intake. I love the stupid quick response, getting full boost at just over half throttle is damn fun.
Well, i had a quick look to see how aggressive this "SWAT" chip runs and i must say bloody hell thank god i pulled that little bit of timing. I'm going to pull another 3* across the board via the ecutalk unit. This is almost E85 timing! Fuel map is 100% standard and the low load timing is the same, once you start going into the higher load cells it goes from 3* advanced to 6* over standard in some area's. I turned the boost down a tad so the injectors have a bit more headroom.
Running a much nicer timing map now, tried to get her back on 14PSI but it seems the injectors can't keep up at all. The funny thing about the first timing map i posted(the super aggressive one) is that it is identical timing wise to a toshi "16psi" tune i have on my computer
