I've just gotten off of the phone with a local member that's got quite an impressive Z. Due to the fact that he's on holidays I couldn't exactly get the facts straight. But from what he said on the phone, he recommended that I don't bother upgrading TB's as you can modify the stock ones to flow 17% more. He started going into depth but it was too hard to explain and stated that he'll show me once he's back from holidays. Has anyone tried this/know of anyone doing it?
Jamie you can bore out the stock tb's to max size which i think is like 53mm if i remember correctly. Ive got a set off Noel (Wildzx)...i remember he had a thread on it & was selling a few. Maybe contact him & see if he has anymore to sell Abraham
ive got a set of pzp oversize throts id sell you happily. not going to use them myself..... let me know if keen.
I'm just looking into it at this stage, the member who's close to me did his himself so i'll more then likely just get him to do it.
The one ive got has performance butterflies...i remember being told that you can have standard or performance but still have oversized tb's. Hope that helps. Abraham
44 mm TB's (such as on my Pullstart) will support in excess of 350Hp......each. Larger TB's will simply flow more air for the same amount of pedal. Makes you FEEL like you have more powah! Nice placebo effect if nothing else. Also nice for bragging rights at the local chew and spew!!!...Meh! E
I remember John at UAS saying that two 50mm TB's are close to having a single 80mm TB or something along those lines.
Single 50mm throttle body has an area of 1963.5mm square, each feeding a 1.5L three cylinder motor. 80mm TB has an area of 5026.5mm square. So not quite the same but I still think Jamie has more important things to worry about...
Not wrong there, but while the information was fresh in my mind I wanted to check and see if it could be done.
My thoughts exactly... If you bore out the stock TB's then you need to change your butterflies, otherwise air will just leak past the gaps.
Alex i dont remember exactly what Noel told me...but he gave me 2 options. Maybe "performance" is the wrong word but there was definitely a better option Abraham
It's really simple- if you bore out the OEM TB's the butterfly's won't be big enough to block the hole = bigger "performance" butterflys required. the butterfly needs to be matched to the bore

I've gotten two sets from Rob- one of bored out Stanzas and another of bored out Z32 TB... If only just for the info and process: http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300...-54mm-TBs-and-replacement-spring-spacers.html If you search his threads you will find that many of the questions posed here were discussed there as well.
yep good info on that thread . spoke to Robert Bastian about my modded Z1 58mm which are just over 500cfm each (which is what I needed for my build) .
