    Specifications
    • ZID self arms automatically upon removing the key. No need to remember to arm so zed is never accidentally 'unprotected'.
    • Installed with just 6 wires to connect + a couple extra connections
    • All Black wiring design further prolongs thief's attempts to disarm
    • ZID is still armed and zed is still immobilised even if :
    • any ZID wires are cut AND/OR
    • thief tries to bridge the zed's ignition, fuel or starter relays AND/OR
    • jump/roll start or usual hotwiring tricks are tried.
    • Can be located in such a position in the car as to be very frustrating and almost unfeasible for the typical car thief / joyrider to find
    • Has no remotes to lose/break or batteries to go flat
    • ZID works with turbo timers- as soon as timer switches ignition off, the ZID is automatically armed
    • ZID should also work fine with other security devices, in fact having two flashing LED's will really deter thieves
    • Draws almost no power other than the flashing LED (approx 25mA) which can be turned off if desired.
    • Standard ZID is a single point of immobilisation (but one VERY effective one), however you can add unlimited extra points by adding extra relays (I can provide details if required)
    • ZID is NOT just a kill switch which are easily found and disarmed!!!
    • Actual specifications will not be listed here (because you never know who is reading this) but can be provided on an individual basis if required
    • Please read the disclaimer below

I have a question regarding the ZID operation...

If it is activated by removal of the ignition key, what deactivates it? If it's the ignition key again, how is this any more or less protection than the key itself?

    I am in Mark,

    Deactivation is the key!

Not the ign key :D It's part of the secret of the ZID success.

In my case I incorporated a ZID with the Mongoose Immob/alarm and had it approved for insurance purposes.

Mark will ONLY pass on full details via PM or email.

    As Rob said

the key is that it is automatically activated with removal of ign key.

There are many methods of deactivation none which include the ign key.

The choice is up to you. I provide several alternative options you can customise to suit your preferences...

No, remote start will NOT work with

this alarm due to the design.

HOWEVER, if your remote start alarm has a facility to send a single/continuous 12v/earth via an 'accessory' out wire then you could disarm the ZID 1st, then use the remote start...

Its up to you. Could be done but wouldn't be easy unless you/ your sparky are familiar with this sort of setup

Totally up to you but I would look for an australian standards approved commercial alarm. ENsure it;s a minimum 3 point, all black wiring, self and passive arming

If you are referring to my ZID, no they are not. This is a 'boutique' system I didn't really want to take public. Only provided now for zed community members.

Please EMAIL me only at the address in my first post, I'll provide bank details in reply email

Hi fran, I have an account with Rhinio who are an Aussie company that do alarms.

Can get you one that is

    • Black wired
    • 3-Point on board immobilisation
    • ADR/Insurance/etc approved
    • Warrantied
    • Self and passive arming
    • Compatible with accessories like fingerprint recognition, in-cabin alarm, tilt sensor, boot opener, central locking etc and can supply everything you need

Have a look around here http://www.rhinosecurity.com/go.php?p=153 and see if there's anything that catches your eye. The JAG and RA would be my suggestions.

PM me if you want some prices

mark .. does the radiostar, with remote start, meet

the criteria you specify to enable having a zid installed..???

simon .. there are heaps of brands out there with

the remote start facility and advertised as such .. and, yep, i do have one but seldom use it ...:( :(

Baz, yes, the Radiostar has such a auxilary

output feature which is triggered by pressing the * button on the remote.

It should still work OK but I would be against recommending someone do this as the success of the ZID is it's unique disarm procedure which does not rely on a remote control ... all a thief would need is your radiostar remote to bypass the ZID with one button. NOT RECOMMENDED and no real advantage in installing a ZID in those circumstances ...

I'd really discourage those who use remote start to get a ZID as it's pretty pointless. If one believes the 'remote start' feature as more important than zed security then good luck to them (and I do mean that sincerely!)

Not to mention that remote start is technically illegal and insurance could void a theft claim if they learn of the remote start 'feature'. It's quite ironic huh ... your zed gets stolen due to weak security, then your insurance refuses to compensate you due to ... weak security:rolleyes: :D
