Hey guys, Instead of making a new thread I though I'd reply in this one as its kinda relevant.

Anyway, does anyone know how to wire up an older style pulse type tacho to a z32??? It seems the z32 uses a voltage that just increases with rpm...?

It might seem strange, but I'm trying to get my stock z31 tacho working with my vg30det engine conversion (running z32 harness/ecu)

    Are you sure on that?

Old tachs would have been signalled by the negative side of the coil on the old vg30e engines. You may be able to take signal from off the number 1 coil pack driver. Or pre ptu.

Just a side question to you also. How are you signalling both O2 sensors from off the one sensor on the vg30det? Just pairing the signal wires?

    Cool project.

Yeah tried that - reads a really low rpm, because its only coming from one cylinder. Does anything on the Cas/injector circuit give a pulse every time a cylinder fires? I need a 12 volt pulse every time it fires for it to work.

And yes, just wired them together. Its all running/registered now, just trying to get the tacho working for convenience instead of pulling out the laptop.

The cas has a optical readout for each cylinder stage. Along with a 360 degree crank rotation readout. Might be able to tap into this circuit. Will have to read back over my paper work to be certain it's a 12v signal though. May only be 5v. Can't remember.
