Okay guys, slid under the car and discovered that the oil has been gradually splattered ONLY on the passenger side; none on the driver's side. And even the top of the gearbox (passenger side also) is wet with oil. Made me suspect that it isn't the rear main seal or sump gasket after all. Fiddled around the top rear part of the engine and found this:

And here's a "vague" photo from under which somehow gave me such idea:

Done a quick search as well and here's one post I found quoted from ADAMZX:

Now, is it just a matter of cleaning up the area where the leak is coming from then putting high temp silicone to ensure seal? Here's a photo by the way of that area just before the engine was ready to go back in. Didn't even think that oil could leak from there! DUMB! :p

    Staying positive,

    UPDATE:

Researched on the service manual and I think I need to do another plenum pull and take the intake cover off and reseal the VTC solenoid as per photo (last diagram below):

Just wanna confirm that I'd be needing the proper cover gasket and not just use a silicone sealant, right?! Then just liquid gasket for the solenoid itself...

It does look like you have damaged the VTC solenoid in that first piccy.

You do need to use a proper rubber seal for the inlet cam covers, and gasket goo under the solenoid. I would pull the plenum and do it properly, if you've done all the bypasses it won't be too bad.

Plenum pull it is then. My fourth! :) Will ask around who's got a cam cover gasket...

    Thanks for the supervision, Chris...

After both brake and power steering fluid leaks were fixed, I now worked on getting the new bonnet and front bar painted. Some electrical gremlin slowed me down when she suddenly stalled on me whilst we were cruising down the road from the panel beater's shop. Got to drive her home though with the generous help of AndyMac last Monday. She's now safe in the garage, waiting to be tweeked upon one more time... just never ending adventure! :D

Still staying positive though. Zed's not dead. Here's a preview of how she's resurrecting from the grave:

Will get those mesh colour-matched, fog light ducts are also waiting to be installed and those ugly fender wheel linings need to be cleaned and "blacked" out.

I actually do have a pair from ian's GB but my panel beater is a bit old style and haven't done anything like that in the past. So I just asked him to go ahead with painting the bonnet.

Is it too late though? Do you think I can still have them done without ruining the paint job?

Been a while since I have updated my re-build thread. Took time out today to look back at what she used to be:

    Kept this in my wallet...

With her massive FMIC and its butchered mouth...

    Shiny disco balls...

    Asymmetry at its finest...

The future so bright... I gotta wear sunnies!

    And how she is now:

Slowly tidying up as I go. Took me yonks to give her a makeover that she truly deserves as I patiently focused on ensuring a healthy heartbeat first before going to cosmetic stuffs. That includes the recently concluded GT28R's transplant... :br:
Interior pics to follow. In the middle of customising a pair of bucket seats for her. Far from perfect... but nevertheless makes my heart jump everytime I open my garage door. :zlove:

INTERIOR: I basically stripped all the yellow leather panels out of the car and grabbed a set of stock tweeds to replace every bit. Leather retrim kit is on its way. Plus the pair of bucket seats that are gonna go in as well. I'll take a photo of the seat tonight and post it here.

EXTERIOR: Replaced the chrome rims with a full set of 18" Volk Rays F-Zero Challenge with blue internals to match the cobalt blue custom paint of the car.

I customised an illuminated rear centre panel to red & pinkish tones. Gave the rear lights a bit of a character (as per photo above).

Scored a vented carbon fiber bonnet & a new GReddy front bar with mesh and got them painted to match.

Also was able to grab a pair of foglight ducts and painted to match as well.

Still waiting for the custom rails for the pair of seats. Next up: de-tweeding of the panels to put the new leather trim kits... :zlove:

Your car looks very nice brah. IMO the FMIC would had set it off more and given it a tough street/circuit racer look but each to own.

No worries, can't help but drool mate this is pretty much bang on the direction i want to take but sticking with the gun metal grey, smooth clean lines not over done and it really does just compliment the original design not completely changing it into a batmobile/ferrari riced out mess, much respect. :zlove:

I know what you mean. De-meshing the front bar and taking advantage of the GReddy design for an FMIC. I'm enjoying the twin Trust SMIC's at this stage. Also currently avoiding po-po's attention... keeping her neat and simple. And at the same time giving her the occasional spurt if the need arises! :br:
