I'd like to introduce my new daily driver to the stable.
Its a vehicle that is known to some of the members here and although I was not in the market for this particular model, I can honestly say the car has been growing on me and is a pleasure to drive.

I'd like to use this thread as a sort of record for myself and maybe others, with issues or problems that I come across and fix.

I just want to thank the previous owner, michandy, for keeping the car in the condition that its in and I hope he will stay involved with the club and assist where he can... your not getting off that lightly mate :D

So without further to do.. my silver sword, '93 man TT 2+0

a quick tip for getting the passenger window switch assembly to stay down, generally a result of the door trim material having perished from previous removals-
Get yourself a spare window switch and remove the retaining spring assembly, fitting it to the assembly in the car (use the opposite small phillips head screw)... essentially having a spring on both the front and rear.

Take a bit of care when fitting it to the trim, and you will have to remove the door trim completely anytime in the future if you need to access the loom behind. There is ample length on the loom to unplug it this way.

Just wanted to share the photobucket album to anyone who would be bored and wanted to play 'pick whats coming next' in regards to potential issues they may spot.

at the moment I'm trying to solve the air-con not working. The compressor is not receiving the negative switch signal to turn on.

Ive had the system re-gassed and able to turn the compressor on by tripping the relay in the left bottom pocket of the engine bay so tthe game of follow the signal begins.
I've also had a not so cheap sparky spend a couple of hours tracing the signal and then tell me that he's 99% sure its the 'auto' switch on the control pod that is faulty. So after losing an arm and then searching for series 2 auto air con control pod... it does the same thing..:bash:
After a courteous call back to the sparky he asked me to get hold of another ac module, the one under the centre of the dash, and a wiring diagram of the wires and color codes with another diagram of the back of the control pod with the on/off labels for the pins

So right now I'm looking for an ac ecu module for series two (not sure if it matters?) and trying to get a hold of the original ECU for this car to rule out the chipped ECU I 'm running at the moment. I'm getting pretty annoyed at the cost of trying to find the fault and fix it.. But I shall have cold air..:p

    Re-gassed

series 2 climate computers are different. Been a few years, but pretty sure the final numbers have to be 10, 11, or 12? Usually also indicated by a green sticker, opposed to blue.
Has your auto elec checked the low pressure switch that is incorporated into the condenser (think that's what its called... the cylinder underneath the nose panel towards the drivers side)

Thanks for the advice ozx, appreciated.
..and yep, it was checked and apparently is working. I remember both the re-gasser and sparky were switching the condenser from there

was thinking this - then realised that as long as its been I have done stuff all to my Z - my 4x4 on the other hand has had a heap of attention, of course thats because I can do it for nix. hopefully tyres will be sorted in a couple of weeks maybe a month and then its interior and a few basic mechanicals (which I need to do at work on the hoist)

So I started trying to diagnose this aircon issue I'm having..

    Straight away found this..

Outside ambient sensor harness looks like its been nipped.. looking at the corrosion, it doesnt look like anything recently..

hopefully this will solve why compressor isnt turning on as I'm assuming the ecu needs input from all the sensors to activate it.
