I have searched the tech section for the easy method of replacing the engine mounts on TT. Does anyone have an easy method rather than supporting the engine with hoist and dropping the main front cross member. Having done this, are the top mounting bolts accessible?

    Thanks

should be able to put your car on stands then undo the nuts top and bottom of mounts then jack the motor up about 2 inches so that they can come out.

You need to support the engine with an engine support bar, and lower the cross member a little. You cant lift the engine high enough to get the mounts out. The top nuts are a pita to get to, but it is do-able.

i've just replaced the drivers side mount by slightly lifting the engine. Couldnt get to the top bolt without removing the alternator (15 min job anyway)

Thanks guys, I'll drop the cross member and hopefully be able to get to the top bolts on the mounting, especially passengers side without having to remove turbo inlet piping and A/C compressor
