Right all four were sent today in one box to Attila, There is one in its own box inside the box that needs to be forwarded on to James in Canberra, I would have sent this separately but I couldn't find an addy for James this morning - maybe I have it but was just unable to find it?

These should all turn up within the next couple of days, please advise if any damage from shipping, they should be OK as fairly robust except for the little mounting tabs - they will bend back is slightly bent but make sure they are warm when you try :)
If stone cold they COULD fracture = not so easy to fix seeing as they are powder coated.

    Thanks guys
Please advise if there are any dramas
    Glenn.

Got mine the other day. Atilla forwarded it promptly.
Very nice welds and the cap machining is top notch.

Powder coats good too considering we weren't charged for it.

So when can we expect the surge tank gb or relocated power steer Res??

Good to hear people are happy :D that's the goal at the end of the day :D

Surge tank is on my to do list as well as the rear aero aid for the two seaters, might be a while before I can get on to them but it will happen one day (maybe next year at this rate  )

All received and looking good. Out of interest what sort of battery do you have Glen? As mine's just abit to big for it to fit.

My own car is running an NS40 BUT that is only due to the changes I made to the fuel system, prior to the fuel system changes I was running an N70 or similar.

Anything less than 240mm wide should fit trouble free and this should include the following batteries:
    Dimensions L-229mm W-172mm TH-203mm
    N50L, N50LMF, 68, 68MF, 68VT, 58, 58MF, 58EB, 58VT, 58VTMF, 47, X56C, E550HE, 128MF, 55H, 55HMF, 54C, P460G, 53C, P460C, 128HD, 52C, 58C, BXT58R, LM51C, N49, LM380C, LM50C, N47, MF51, MF52, MF53, NS50ZL, NS50PL, SMF58, 2176, 2178, 2504, 2542, N49U, N51U, 156, 156/11, 2504

With some batteries you need to trim the little plastic guides off the top of the stock battery tray just to move the battery across that last ~5mm to make room.

Thanks for the needed/optimal battery sizes Glenn. Makes my search a little easier now. However, those battery codes don't translate into something I can readily use here. I'll have to do the ole' bring the measuring tape and written down size with me when I go door to door at various automotive suppliers and physically check their offerings. Hate to have to replace a perfectly good working battery to make this work but that's the nature of the beast. :)

The only concern I would have when looking for a replacement battery is ensuring it has ample CCA and is deep cycle. CCA for obvious reasons and deep cycle for the intermittent demands of a healthy stereo system. That really narrows down my search significantly.

Should be plenty of 550cca batteries within that size range :)

Not if you plan on driving the car...

    How so? Can you explain?

Deep cycle battery is designed to provide low current over extended periods. They discharge slowly and they recharge slowly (comparatively). Great for boats or cars that frequently sit idle.

Cars that get driven need (ideally) something that gives a lot of current up front and recharges quickly.

You cannot have both (despite what marketing tells you) it comes down to the metallurgy of the plates.

Hmmm, I see. When researching batteries, high output alternators and Big 3 methods through various youtube How-To's, it was mentioned that a deep cycle battery would be an excellent choice to use for high amp stereo systems.
So, I guess if there's no such beast as an effectively high CCA battery that also has deep cycle features, then it's best to focus on a quality CCA battery.

Sorry to stray off the main theme of the thread.

It's related enough, people may want to replace their battery & so the question may come up "with what?"

Sadly there is no beast that will be perfect for everything.
