No pic updates here unfortunatley. We pulled the motor out and took the heads off, i had accounted for doing a full rebuild and im glad i did, this thing has been hot. mega hot. knock sensor is a pool of melted plastic on top of the block, piston crown melted to bore on number 6, turbo's seized. In a word. its rooted. Ill get the block checked out and hopefully it will go again. the rest of it will go in teh spares pile. ive got a spare set of heads, turbo's and all the rest of it. so no problems there. Not much else reallye except that ive detailed it and been pouring leather conditioner into the seats. pics coming soon.
Just wondering and i hope im correct here are you doing a build thats sort of like the following. stock turbos stock injectors stock rebuild. but then just breathing mods. eg. dump pipes, new headers, exhaust, and larger SMIC and maybe an EBC. id be interested to see much power the engine would make with all these restrictions removed but the engine kept completely stock otherwise.
almost correct, ill be using stock dump pipes and stock coolers though. the idea is to get as much power with as much of the OEM gear as i can.
i think the stock coolers might be a bit of restriction on top end power going by my dyno run. Mine is pretty much stock except n power dumps, highflow cats, cat back, ebc and nistune. 300hp @ 130km/h i think that's just over 4000rpm
it must be something else mate, mine did consistently 310 to 320 on stock coolers and peaked way up at 6500rpm
ok, might be my cat back then? Was on the car when I got it and the packing is slowly getting blown out the back
Yeh I wonder about the driveability using two GT28's, which are usually the sort of turbo used on a two liter engine. For example a GT28RS will do 300WHP on a good two liter engine. No good having power if you have to wait for it to arrive.
