Ok, so im rebuilding my Z i thought id post a thread and gradually update it. Im getting pictures tomorrow, so ill post them up when i get them. I was thinking of "quickly" inserting some new speakers into my boot today so i took my boot apart only to find that i have Bose speaker boxes that only fit 5" speakers. YAY - not. Heres me with a 7x10 pioneer in one hand, and a clenched fist in the other when i realise that im going to have to make a custom boot layout incorperating the side panels. but oh it got better, not only did i not have the origonal Bose speakers, i had cardboard commodore origonal equivelants, not plugged into the small amps and bose wires, but a cable run loosely through the under neath of the car, in no specific order, to the speaker wedged between the mounting bracket. which leads me to think that the door panel speakers will be much the same. to my disgust. So when i have finished creating a custom boot layout for my speakers if anyone wants to buy 2 perfect condition bose boxes (with or without the official mini amps) (i know theres alot of people wanting them) then feel free to contact me. (itll take me a while to get this done so dont expect it to be anytime soon) So all up im pretty dissapointed with my sound system currently in the car. it makes me cry someone would even think of doing what has been done. I think the first thing that i will do, is source some custom speaker boxes so i can fit bigger speakers the mould in some subs in the corners. that way i can still put the targa roof in the boot when needed. Also mount the amps on the platform behind the seats. after ive done all this and made it looks spiffy, ill move onto trim. will update later with pics/ more info. cheers if u read this far lol.
Do yourself a favor and throw the rubbish 6x9 in the bin. The Bose box fits a 6.5 split perfectly, not a 5" speaker. A good 6.5 split is better in every way. Count yourself lucky you have this option.
its 7x10, not 6x9. and they arn't rubbish. but nonetheless ill take in your advice and see where i go.
Probably should have checked that before buying 'em And yes, those Bose boxes are nice and reasonable rare.
there not a recent buy, i bought and installed them on my previous car. otherwise i would of checked for the sizing etc..
Ive made custom surround enclosures to fit/hide 6x9 speakers under the stock grills. Little cardboard, scissors, tape, imagination, sheet mdf, fiber glass.... and they fit perfectly. As mentioned if you have the bose enclosures. Use them! Sell your 7x10s and buy some nice 6.5's. Alternatively, Gonzo has made custom corner speaker enclosures that replace the stock panels. Maybe cheaper in the long run. There are also corner sub enclosures available too.

Ok smarty, WTF has the title even got to do with the goddamn thread?? So 12 months on. Someone is looking for the thread CAUSE IT MAY HAVE USEFUL INFO IN IT. WTF do they type to find it ? The dumbass incorrectly spelled title? Who can remember that? Or to give them even a hope of finding it (even with the dumb name) the correctly spelt one? Thats why i bought it up. ALWAYS CORRECTLY SPELL THE TITLE LINE IN THREADS. So at least its searchable. I could give a sh!t about how you spell in the body of the thread. Its called good house keeping, unless you want a forum of trash talk that is useless. Get it right
I agree with you on this one. If every single thing was spelt wrong there would be no point even having a search function. and for the low blow. It is "an English". I don't mind the occasional incorrect spelling but when you don't care then that gets on my nerves. matt.
maybe it will be easy to search graham, for the sheer reason, thats its so badly spelt it will be remembered
So i decided to figure out why my left instrument cluster was a bit wonky sitting. i looked up a guide to take it off properly (as i dont wanna take it off improperly breaking something) and what i found i was extremely amazed/dissapointed at. i might aswell have nocked it off with a hammer. I found the following sitting in the bottom of the cluster there is the 2 mounting bolts, and a couple of bolts that are meant to be holding the screen and bottom windscreen wiper switch on. which most of the bolts are snapped. So if anyone has any ideas of cheap parts to fix this would be appreciated lol. until next time. cheers guys.

hehe, there is lots you can do! I just sprayed my brake calipers, 15 bucks an amount of time and was fun and a good looking result.
