First proper day of driving the car resulted in a de-belting rear tyre. The tyres were poor and I was going to replace them the day after, but there we are. Also, spent some time trying to fix the drivers side pod control. Found out that a heap of the plastics are broken and now brittle, most likely from people who did not know how to remove things, or it was kicked. So, the part spend has begun. New tyres new brake pads new brake fluid. My Bluetooth headunit was the first thing to go in. Purchasing a DIN pocket. I also fixed the rear cargo blind as it was banged up, not straight and wouldn't retract, It now works perfectly. Targa drains need a thorough cleaning.
So yeah, the car has issues, can't expect much for the cost I bought it at. Luckily I like fixing things. Will focus on the smaller stuff in this build thread which is merely superficial. The red rotor hats and surrounds, as well as backing plate will eventually get licks of black and silver accordingly, still tossing up whether I want red calipers... Unsure what the story is with the rear license plate plastic where the lights are... New front mount rubbers will be put in as I see the common leaking drama is there. So, after failing immensely with trying to fit in the groceries boxes, and only just fitting them in with removing the donut and tools/ side pocket. I decided the boot needs my attention to make the car more practical for our needs. I have typically always had big cars, but never a car this wide and long with so little storage space. The plan is to make a flush fit floor to the metal which gives me a drop of roughly 2-3 inches. I will then make a couple of dividers to take the place of having to take the boxes, and instead allow me to fit in smaller objects without them rolling around the floor, and still be able to secure the roof panels in the boot when the good weather shows itself. *This will take me a while as I'm juggling a lot of repairs at once currently, with extra work hours on and little free time.* Also allows me to pull out the antenna and attempt a repair at that.
Welcome to zedland mate Looks like you've got a bit of work to do You'll find all the plastics in and around the dash will have gone brittle with age, and weeping front castor bushes are pretty common. First thing I'd be looking at though would be the targa drainage and make sure there's no rust up in there. You'll want to get onto that asap. Great cars though :zlove: Sadly you've bought the boat version though
Hey Shane. Wasn't sure if you're project was still a go-er, good to see it is. Yeah, the roof will be getting tended to once the rain stops. Need to determine how the water is getting in the boot currently, need to spend time with a garden tap. The boat factor is from having no water here compared to the house in Sydney. Still hauls ass meanwhile! Yeah, for now QLD, I've decided to put the boot back, Don't have time to do all this stuff at once like I used to, and sick of the noise from the rear. Did an immediate fix this afternoon with some cheap Rockfords. Sounds a lot better than the old factory jobs. Despite being 4x6, I still had to drill new holes, wasn't happy about that, but ehh. Front splits coming in the mail tomorrow, hopefully have the audio sorted before the trip to Syd again on Sunday.
haha, no, I was referring to your choice of the 4 seater, otherwise known as a 2+2, vs the jap spec 2+0. One thing that divides this forum lol. Bit of TLC will bring it up nice. Body and paint looks pretty good?
Haha, yeah I know, worse still, 2+2, non turbo and auto. Back seat is useless, though no worse than the FTO, so, yeah was a requirement. Body was completely resprayed at some point, not the best job, but not complaining, they did a quick respray as they taped along the glass rubbers and a few other places. The odd dribble mark in some folds, underside of the bonnet is appalling and certain areas have tar paint where water could reside, I.E. Tail lights, door hinges, etc.
Yes I know all about making big plans that will take too long, when a quick solution will do it now. Hence my suggestion. Carpet underlay and a rug.
6" splits arrived today. Installed the woofers, the tweeters however I had no direct spot to mount them, so they're currently residing on the top of the door card hanging by the cord. I don't want to screw in to the trim, nor have them on display, unsure where to place them. Just realised also, I can't edit my first post to update things as I go.

Yeah, fair enough, some other places, we used the first post to have a running list of mods, etc, and used the rest as an add to. No biggie.
