Question, The Max Value for the STD AFM is 5 volts??????

Was having a look at the MAXVALS from the ECUtalk display tonight and after a full run in 2nd I was at 5.04 volts.
I've been working on the fuel and timing maps using the wide band AFRs, so I could crank the boost a little, but assuming 5 volts is the maximum, I assume I can't turn up the boost any more until I get 2 AFMs. Is that correct.

Will be good to see the dyno result in March :)

I think its about 5.5, i would be using a wideband.

yep AFM max's at 5V (roughly, your 5.04 is normal)

Hope your getting that at high revs in a higher gear otherwise things could get ugly boosting at higher loads

Edit; looking over the net there are people saying 5V and others saying 5.5V, I would leave it as is until you have a second MAF or you add a second airflow path around the maf and remap to suit (acts like putting the MAF in a larger housing which is also another option, you will loose some idle resolution)

    Just found this gem

So looks like I'm close enough to the limit to stop. I'd be guessing that in the cooler months as the air gets denser, I'll have to cut back on the boost.
Currently at 1.3 bar (19 PSI)

500HP is supposedly the limit and if I remember correctly you put down 440 last dyno run.

You don't have much left baby ;)

Is the stock ones limits 500hp at the wheels or engine?

*Edit nevermind Coz told me the limit starts to get there about 450hp @ the engine max 500hp but gains can be seen from 450hp running a dual etc.

    Dual mafs for you pex.

Afm voltage is a very good indication of engine power improvement. If your afm voltage increases with mods, you are making more power, it is that simple. An engine needs to consume more air to make more power, so an increase in afm voltage indicates more air is being drawn in. Definatley not a replacement for widebands, but a good way to supplement your tuning tool box.

I did not know this. I guess coming from a MAP background I'll excuse myself. But it also starts to explain why mysterious leaning out at full noise while I have plenty of injector room left. It's not bad, still safe-ish but it's been a ceiling for me that I haven't been willing to push past due to the "why won't it continue dumping in fuel. I'll be looking at my AFM voltage on the next run and probably look at dual mafs.

is there a graph or anythng out there HP vs voltage? or is it a straight line from 0hp at 0v and 500hp at 5.12v. also could you pull apart your maf and put it into a larger pipe and re-celebrate it at all? i know chilledpains maf in consult was reading 4.58v at 16psi just wondering if its a straight line or a curve if there was a graph

No real correlation between maf voltage and hp, each engine has a different ve so will have different voltage at a given hp. Monitoring maf voltage on your car may yeild 5.12v(maximum) at 500hp, but on someone elses it may only be 4.90v at 500hp.

You could theoretically pull apart and mod the maf, but the tuning of the new values would be a pita to do.

Yes, and you'd lose a lot of resolution around idle and low revs

unless your mods are ones that increase the volumetric efficiency right?

No, it will still consume more air with increased ve, the whole system becomes more efficient with an increase in ve.

Maximum Voltage is 5.12 volts - That correlates to a mazimum ADC count of &hFFFF. Just get me to write you a custom chip to suit twin intake filters, but you'll need a bit of dyno time to get the mixtures perfect and timing correct. :)
