so out into the siun today with its new coat of colour, threw the front guards on so we can bring it home to start cleaning the interior (my god it needs that as you can see). I also got some urethane into the dashpad while the windscreen is out and glued the vents down.

    so some daylight pics

this side you can just see the commodore side indicator and the deletion of the aerial.

cheers Chrispy its ppg's deltron version of AH3, which was the original colour, we have had a couple of patrols in for repairs and the dodgy phone camera does not do this colour justice. it does however hide a lot of the not so good ripples....... I hate being rushed and thats why, you cut corners and crap happens.... thats life I suppose.

I am not the painter.... I sort of wish I could but I get sick of the sanding to quick. I am the panel butcher though and am learning a little on how to paint at my current job. sorry no real tips available here unfortunately, other than get the prep right and you are a long way toward getting a good job

all good anyway. would love to be able to help the other members out but it is a tad far to gero for most of you. one day we will probably end up in Perth..... I dread the thought though I came to Oz for the sun and warmth, Perth is no better than NZ really. There are a lot of good Z owners there though and that would be a bonus.

Perths a bit warmer than that lol. Even though the weathers been a bit average lately. My home town back there didn't get past 7deg today and 0 over night, makes me cold just thinking about it.

where in NZ are you from I am from Hamilton myself and still own a house in Invercargill. personally I put perths weather pretty on par with middle to upper NI.

PPG is a paint brand, deltron is one of their product lines.

Why do you think we moved here. Haven't been able to sell our house as we moved here just as the gfc hit and invercargill house prices have not recovered enough to cover our mortgage

Things have been hectic - I got rid of my beloved bike for a 4x4 that had a major engine failure, repowered with a newer engine from the same vehicle (1999 engine into a 96 body) and had a nightmare with the electrical, took 8 months of head scratching and banging against a brick wall and I finally worked it out, followed with mates needing help with stuff and general life the Z got put on the back burner with everything not seen above not painted.

over the last couple of months I decided it was time to pick up a spraygun myself and have a go and here is the result, the rear bar still needs sorting and is so stuffed I am not going to do much but slap some cheap paint on it until I decide what to do with the replacement I have in the shed (I want to get a twinz diffuser but the minister of finance says no at the moment and to make do and spend the money on getting it over the pits first) - so here it is, sorry about the bad pic its night and the phone is not really good at night pics
    [IMG]

Dont worry the wet patch at the front is the 4x4's aircon from a few minutes before - had me worried there for a moment though

Here is a better picture, I have to redo the bumper as it was in the wrong colour variation of AH3, flip is closer to original but face of the colour is a little darker, that will wait until I have moved to perth and the car has gone over the pits.

Will also be looking out for a set of driving lights - I have the originals but the side piece has broken off them.

Been a slow road this last year in perth, the 4X4 has had extensive surgery (custom upper control arms - 2 inches of lift - and plenty of less obvious stuff) and the poor Z has been left to its own devices parked up in the garage. However with summer coming on I got a new fetish to work on the girl and tax return saw a new set of rubber on her (the last big outlay I hope) most things are refitted, and a list of things to go that include

Rear bumper repaired and painted, drivers seat coverings sorted, window wipers need new blades, New globes right through the rear (they were robbed while she sat at work being painted and I forgot all about it - I also think one of the sub harnessess dissapeared at the same time.) wiring to connect on side indicators, front radius arms to be replaced (I only bought them 3 or so years ago lol), Hicas lockout to go in. and probably 50 other small things I cant think of now but its slowly happening.

So now all the move to Perth is done and 2 jobs later she is looking like this

And if we can look past the bumper and the mastic on the tail lights - the Tail gate smooth over has come up a treat I think - Oh yes high level brake light has to be installed, going to fit one to the inside of the glass

What are the rules for centre brake lights?

Do they have to be mounted higher than normal brake lights or just central?

Could you get away with LED back light of the 300ZX in centre?
