Hey guys, Im experiencing an intermittent rattling noise when I drive the zed. it most commonly occurs at low RPM's or when slowing down.. but it has occured sometimes when accelerating from a low speed aswell. I find I can make the noise by putting the clutch in and revving the engine and the noise happens breifley when the engine is lowering rpms again. Its weird because the gearbox is tight (save for the regular cold slight crunch 1st to second) and the clutch is fine.. im tempted to thing its a bearing gone somewhere but I dont know what to think.. any ideas? - I have changed both engine and gearbox oil with no difference or metallic shavings anywhere - it really is intermittent.. some days the car will drive like a million bucks
Just tried then, sounds great when revving, then there is this mechanical rattle like someone is tapping a screwdriver down on my tailshaft or something... actually more scrapey noise than that.. thoughts?
interesting. so from having 2 failed o2 sensors, and faulty cat temp sensors... do you think I have burnt out my cats and hence the rattling noise of stuff inside?
Ive had that before, this is definitley something like a metallic rattle - similar to that of a heatsheild rattling on the exhaust.
Yes the cats will rattle when they start to break up inside. Give them a gentle tap with a long pole -gentle enough to see if they rattle but not so hard as to cause a rattle...
its funny rob said that, i had a metal ratal sound last year coming from under the car, took it to my mechanic and they said it could be the cats. Fast fit hit it with a broom or something and located the problem, gave em 600 bucks for 2 new cats , drove off, n the noise was still there. Then one week later after a few drives the noise was gone.
im glad I asked this because I was almost ready to fork out money for gearbox inspection. thanks guys
