If you have a two piece driveshaft you have to unbolt the centre driveshaft bearing, just two bolts, then the rear of the driveshaft will fall into your hands. then hold the front of driveshaft parallel with gearbox and slide driveshaft out. If you have a one-piece you have to slide the driveshaft towards the gearbox, then driveshaft will part from the diff and drop so it can be slid out from gearbox.

Does the centre bearing drop when the mount is unbolted?

Often the shaft and the diff get a bit stuck together and need a tap or a pry apart with a screwdriver/prybar.

Don't knock yourself out when the shaft falls *cough Andymac *cough
