Build looks great i also have a 700hp at the wheels vg30dett just curious if you had upgraded your gudgen pins and did you fix the counter weight onto the crank at all?

Gudgeon pins = piston pins :)

These have thick radial walled pins. .866 length by .860 pin wall thickness. These are more than capable of handling the abuse. The only other thing I would have done to these would have been coat the pins prior to assembly but that is an additional fee the customer didn't want to go with.

If you knew the bill for something like this, you'd re-evaluate that statement :)
I was afraid to add up my receipts before, even when it was just all stuff that was added by the previous owner.... now I'm scared shitless.

I believe you on that statement

But I think you will forget the cost the first time you ease on the gas :D

Hi mate loving the detail going into this build,
Are you going to remove the oil pick up's metal cover around the strainer?

No. Mitch can go into the reasoning for this, as he is the builder and knows the technical side of this, but I figure that it concentrates flow over the screen and it's similar to removing the screen on the MAF and is unneeded.

Is there a reason that you ask? I've never heard of something like this being done.

It would be a stupid thing to do, if I have read correctly it sounds like you are talking about removing the lower part of the oil pickup?? This would result in about two litres of oil being unusable & create massive oil starvation issues while cornering etc.

I must be reading the post wrong, no one would be that daft surely....

i think some people remove some of the metal at the very bottom of the pickup where it goes quite small.

Settle Gretel i was just asking about the metal cover that surrounds the strainer, as this may be a restriction for oil flow at higher RPM the last thing you want is low pressure. If not having the cover over the stainer causes starvation on cornering that's the least of your problems as removing it would not leave 2Ltr of oil useless:confused:

I've seen some of the SR20 boys do this, but they have a smaller hole to suck through :p It's more of a notch in the side than completely removing the lower section.

I don't think that the amount of oil that the VG pumps really necessitates removing the lower section. And the others are right, it will reduce your effective oil capacity quite a bit. I wouldn't do it, well not without lowering the pickup further.
