    Hey guys! :)

I have a '94 TT Zed. The speedometer has failed in the gauge cluster. All other gauges work perfectly - including the trip meter and odometer, so i know there is a speed signal getting through from the gearbox speed sensor, sub harness to the dash ok.
My question is, can i keep my existing '94 cluster (which from my understanding has different connections on the back and has no stock boost gauge on there), while replacing just the speedometer gauge from a S1 cluster and connect straight up? ...or do i need to scour the bowls of hell to try and find a working oem speedo out of a '94 model Zed from somewhere to get to work in mine?

Hoping someone can help so i know where to look, and thanks in advance peeps! :D

24820-45P64 Speedometer assembly for TT's built from 09/1993 up to 01/1997.
There is no alternate part number listed.

24820-45P09 Speedometer assembly for TT's built from 08/1992 up to 10/1994.
There is an alternate part number listed for 24820-45P09, being 24820-40P10 Speedometer assembly for TT's built from 07/1989 up to 08/1992.

Speedometer assembly refers to the gauge only, not the cluster.

Thanks heaps for this. As it turns out there is definitely a different part for my Zed from the S1 gauges. Mine is a November 1994 model, so i'd say it will be the 24820-45P64 part which is different than the S1's.
Toby Zparts has given some further information on our FB group and is sending a spare cluster from my model to try out. Hopefully it fixes the issue, and all is well again! :)

    Hi Benny
Check the soldered joints on the back of the board. It's been a long time but I have a feeling it was the R10 on the back that the soldered joints go dry on. They normally only need a touch up with a soldering iron. There used to be a great tech article so check the tech section to see if it is still there.

I believe the R10 is the input signal from the gearbox sensor which also goes to the ECU. Take the cluster or speedometer to the local radio technician to look for cold solder joints and fix as necessary. They can spot them a mile away and it costs peanuts to fix.

Update guys, it's all fixed now! :)
As diagnosed, it ended up being a faulty speedo gauge. I had actually attempted to re-solder the key solder joints on the old gauge PCB, but to no avail. But Toby Zparts (from our FB group page) came to my rescue and was able to supply me with a late model OEM gauge (in perfect order) that i needed, and i can't thank him enough for this! I can also confirm that the early and late model speedo gauges are NOT interchangeable. They have a different configuration. Thanks again everyone who had input and helped out.

    Cheers,
