Hi all When my Zed gets to about 4000+ in 1st/2nd gear it just revs out to the limiter/red line. It feels like clutch slip because car is reving but not going any faster. This only happens when I "stamp" on the go pedal in 1st or 2nd. I live on a steep hill but driving up the hill in 2nd gear at 2500-3000 rpm NO problems or when driving in 5th at the speed limit (110kph in Tas) no problems. Only when I "stamp" on the go pedal and get to about 4000+ rpm that the tacho goes straight to rev limt like it's slipping but Zed is not going faster. As I then go up through the gear ranges 2nd, 3rd to 4th the engine/tacho/still wants to rev out but the revs settle down in 4th or 5th gear and Zed is perfect again. Can a clutch slip at the higher rev range but not down low?. My Zed has a Heavy Duty Exedy clutch when it was advertised for sale, not sure if they have this issue or if I look else where in car. I've had 2 searchs on the forum. Clutch slip something about "glazing" and over revving something about the "clutch pedal adjustment" but nothing I could see that was particular to my issues. Cheers Pete
Your clutch may need adjusting or replacing. you start to make boost at 3000-4000 rpm, torque goes up and the clutch slips.
Put a block in front of your wheel..... That will soon sort out if you have a dodgey clutch. If your clutch is okay the car will try to mount the block or your engine will stall. If you have a healthy TT, flooring the throttle at 3.5K in the 1st 3 gears will invoke large amounts of "traction minimisation" (also known as going sideways up the street)
That worked Stuck a bloody big brick under front wheel. Zex tried to mount it (failed that) but the Zed never stalled..Zed just kept trying to mount the brick.. ??
Feel I may have "glazed" my clutch Had a search and my symptoms seem to indicate I've "glazed" my clutch. I might try to deglaze it.
