ains .. it would make it tons easier for everyone if you could list the names of companies offering insurance for imports ... heaps of members interested in this one ...
dude, if you went 22 years of driving without ever being involved in an accident or making a claim, you wouldn't think it was such a dumb idea.
The only reason I'm even considering insurance is in case some bum with no money or insurance runs into me. I've had to take evasive action at least 5 times in the past, sooner or later one of these morons will hit me and I'm likely to end up jail if they don't pay up.
hmmm, good point, come to think of it i've gone 26 years with out knocking someone up, think i'll stop using protection to save a few bucks & a bit of hassel mate i dont care how long or clean your record is its still a stupid idea to drive around in an uninsured car. third party is less than rego, dont be a tight arse.
I've been with LSV Lumley Spec Vehicles (previously Torque insurance) for 8 years and they have slowly devalued My car from $20,000.00 Plus to current year @ $14,000.00 agreed value.. not sure that I agreed to that value, But that's the value they have agreed to (which is my guess, is what it really means anyway) as I spend bloody thousands each year on maintenance and repairs, as most do on the forum. However. If for sale appeared I'm not sure, But guess that its pretty well on the money in the marketplace. This is something that I can't predetermine until the day comes. Still I'd like to see what a commodore is worth that was bought for $22,000.00 8 years ago .. I doubt it would be worth any more than $1,400.00
Insurance Be very carefull and read the fine print, They are losing a lot of money. All companies are trying to get out of payouts. Check your agreed value. Can you car be parked on the street,That means all four wheels on the road. Shannons say your car has to be parked in a locked up Garage, not a carport, Keep watch on your Excess. Thats been going up as well. I have my fair share of cars, One went from $500 to $5250 Excess. Rang them. Rating 1 for life. Also where you live is a big factor no matter what security you have. Still waiting. Like i said read the fine print and ask questions if you are not sure.
Do you think insurance companies are a charity? They're more like a casino with the odds even more in their favour.. Is it stupid to not gamble? I drive my Z once / week for 15 mins, it's unlikely I'll ever hit someone and even less likely it'd be a ferrari or something that I couldn't afford to pay the damages on.
i work in a casino. the odds are always in our favor, like very business. btw. yes it's stupid to gamble. but good for my pay. summed it up right there. if you can afford to pay damages for your/their car you can afford 1g a year. do the maths mate.
my Shannons paperwork states carport, but i had to ring them and remind them that this was what was arranged when we talked about it, thay were happy to change the wording.
