hey everyone, so going to the drags at eastern creek at some stage, and i just want to see what opinions people have before we put wagers on which cars win. curious about my NA 300zx manual targa 2+2, mates: NA supra manual, and NA supra auto aerotop. mods to mine are: UDP, full exhaust (extractors, highflow cats, 2.25" piping and mufflers), Pod, no AIV, CC, Prvr, EGR, short throw shifter, and both other cars are stock as a rock. i know a drag run totally depends on the car and driver skill, but off past experience and knowledge which should have the greater chance? thanks guys
Dunno, go for weight saving with the Z. Floor mats, space saver, ect. I would say your Z being modded would win. If your in doubt I'll bring my TT down for ya.
lames, but should beat auto? haha yeah will be major weight, shaving to brazzilian to save on wiper and wing, fibreglass bonnet also gonna remove backseat, spare, sub, passenger maybe, engine, much less weight then im gonna be running 17x8's on the rear brand new expensive maxis tyres, what psi should i run at for the drag run? and tt is on the list when over p laws
I went against my good friends NA manual Supra, & resulted in me winning, though it did put up a fight. Back then I had only the exhaust & pod filter, maintenance was down & no weight reduction. I agree, it does depend on the drivers as well. But the twisty's is where it all counts now in my opinion All the best.
yeah will be testing twisties and mine will hammer, tuneagent camber front back, adjustable castor rods, lowered, gas shocks all round, strut bars front and back with polyurathane bushes. but thanks for the heads up, anybody else have past experience?
Why is everyone picking the na manual supra to win? Standard they come with 220hp at the engine, just like a na 300zx. Weight is about the same. With drivers of equal skill the cars should be a dead even match. Any differences will come about due to modifications, power lost via engine wear/age, and driver ability.
exactly.... The NA supra and NA zed are very very similar cars power wise.... I just dont know if the NA supra is lighter or heavier.... In my mind, with all things with the cars being equal, it will come down to who is the better driver...
I don't understand why everyone thinks NA Supras are hot shit. I've beaten MANY, many of them when I had my 2seater NA 5spd. Autos DEFINITELY, without a doubt, you will smash unless you can't drive. My gf's brother had a na auto Supra, and I beat him all day long, from any speed, rolling or standing start. Manuals are more of a fight, but they ARE slower, they weigh the same, make the same power, have longer gear ratios and a crappy single-spinner diff. They also don't rev out like our cars. The only thing I can say in their defence is that all the ones I raced were pretty riced up, so they weighed more and had bigger rims on them, but then again, I was running heavy, wide Modenas at the time and still beat them. -Kirill
I have had both NA Z and Supra, I tell you unbois oppinion, the Supra is quicker... I started with both cars completely stock and modifed both with extractors, exhaust and pods, and Supra was quicker. Also Supra reached top end quicker than the Z. My 2 cents.
What tyres? What tyres and rims do the cars have? I think it will come down to driver skill in the end. Even though the engines in both cars had the same power from the factory, the Supra is a newer car. The engine could be in better condition, so you never know. Put some MT's on, strip the interior and drive your little heart out... You can win! Rob.
