So what do you think i should do?? I am willing to give it a go, ill see if i can get the tap open with some pliers, if so ill give it a go myself Thanks LOWZX
The drain plug snapped when I emptied the radiator on the convertible a couple of weeks ago. Did not matter as I had a new radiator to put in, but it was very brittle. No pliers needed to break it. Just undo the hose. Drains much quicker too.
You can do it yourself... it took my old zed close to 7 flushes of the radiator with some radiator cleaner and after all that it was still murky. When the thermostat opens all the muck in the engine goes back in the radiator Power flush at a shop flushes the engine out. Get the radiator flushed and rodded. The minerals and ions typically found in tap water can be corrosive to internal engine components, and can cause a more rapid depletion of the anti-corrosion additives found in most antifreeze formulations.
bro its not a computer!!! haha if u do indeed do a plenum pull later i dont recommend doing it yourself, trust me i know, i speak from experience...my thread is here somwhere lol but it will be a good idea to get rid of all the hoses underneath the plenum cos they are not really needed thats for another thread tho
Would be a good idea to find a local member in your area who can help you out with the simple maintenance jobs. I'm always try and help members in my area when I can, and even when I can't be there... they ring. Once you know how to do something, life is a lot easier. So see if you can find someone to show you a few jobs you can do yourself (oil change/spark plugs etc...)
oh ill grow up, how about you lighten up, you guys are all soooooo touchy, chill the f out :whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever::whatever:
You obviously missed the wow last night... so this is actually round 2...lol c'mon guys chill out or the mods might decide to lock it before it gets outa hand...
Hey thanks for all your help I did some reading in the tech section today and i am going to do the radiator flush as described in the cooling section (Removing top radiator hose and running the motor with the garden hose topping it up) This way seems allot easier to me Ill buy a $*** load of distilled water and repeat this process.... Also im not sure of what coolant to buy and how to mix it? Thanks everyone Jess
I knew getting that put in the tech section would be handy! I did this using lost of distilled water and a funnel rather than a garden hose as I am over cautious about such things. That being said, if your coolant system is as neglected as you say i would be thinking pretty seriously about getting a power flush and the radiator rodded. As for what coolant, I have had good results with Tectaloy Gold mixed as per the instructions on the bottle.
Ok Cheers Ill see how i go, if its very bad then i will take it for a power flush cool, I'll get started in the morning and i let everyone know how i went, Jess
