    Hi Everyone,

My name is Jessica, I just bought a Z last night YAY!!
    its a 1990 TT 2 seater

    I have a few questions......

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm new here lol

It has a mines ecu, are they any good? I could only find a couple that were for sale a long time ago in search, Didn't say much about them?

Also the previous owner said there was a leak from the power steering hose,
Thats no problem i can get that replaced, but he has cut the belt off that goes to the power steering pump, so i drove it home without power steering,

Will driving without the ps pump belt damage anything? As i don't know how long he was driving it like this?
Will it Cost much to get a mechanic to fit a new ps belt?

Oh and the Tech section is great;), I'll be spending alot of time there no doubt lol

Any advice would be much appreciate!!

    Thanks:cool:

Hey, where in NSW are you?

Nar Jap ECUs love fuel as well....

When we had the last sydney dyno day someone had a car with a Miness ECU, we tried a few back to back tests against some stock ecus JP had lying around, actually made the most power with one of the factory ones.

All in all was less than 5kw between them.

    Welcome Jessica.
You have posted in the correct section for your intro :zlove: post a pic of your Zed eh?
Recommend getting a ZedStuff cd from Black Baz (PM him for details) and contact Caz1 (Caroline) for any Zed parts you may require in the future. :D

Thanks for the lovely welcome everyone :)

Should i stay with the mines chip or should i upgrade the ecu? will it be better for tunning purposes (i'll search previous threads also)

So it was "safe" to drive without the PS pump belt? Could it cause any damage not having it connected? Sorry for the simple questions....

Thanks for the advice on the ps hose, ill find out what hose is leaking and get it replaced ASAP

Thanks again for all your help :)

the mines ecu are good for aftermarket...if you feel like its starting it using alot of fuel the best thing you could do it get it tuned properly....and as ZXTCY said dont go to nissan unless you want to pay alot of $$$...so yeah keep the ECU in my opinion and worst case scenario go get it tuned:D

The Mines ECU will already have a more aggressive tune than stock.
You could always get the maps looked at(an evaluation of aggressive vs dangerous), and also go for a dyno run to see how your mixtures are (safe, aggressive or dangerous)

Welcome to aus300zx, hope you stick around..we need to build the female population a bit more ;)..

I got a custom power steering line made up a couple of years ago, cost me about $80 all up (went to a hydrolics place), Pirtec was gonna cost a fortune around where I live..don't get an OEM one again, they leak around the crimps..

you all seem to be forgetting the mines ecu is also tuned for 101-102 ron fuel not 98

The Mines ECU is a 'tuners ecu'..... for those after a bit more power etc..... Leave it as is for the time being, just keep an eye on your fuel consumption and if you think its a tad heavey then a trip a tuner may be just the ticket !

Driving it without the powersteering wont hurt the car .... for the short term!, but I wouldnt leave it for a oneday job, better off doing it in the next day or two....

    Example:
I drove a commodore down the Birdsville Track minus a powersteering belt that had broken about 70K's out of Birdsville ( heading to Adelaide).... replaced the belt in Adelaide 2 days later and all was sweet !

    Welcome to the forum
