I would have thought that the 2 holes in the big washer on the inside were there so you could turn it and unscrew the bolt that goes through the glass. I just had a go on a spare window and it just turned the whole thing and I can't see any signs of a thread

    Maybe it was pressed in.

You may have to drill it out from the outside.

Try looking at BF-10 in the Workshop Manual, it will give you some clue as to how it all fits.
It's a fiddly job for the "first-timer", but obviously not greatly time consuming, as it was part of the Assembly Line process when the car was built(and we all know that that is a time-shaving exercise)so it is do-able.

When I replaced mine, the outside part of the window was still in place
No need to even take the window out
Just take the trimmings off, put the window down half way, put the roller end of the bolt in and down the bracket, and screw in
Make sure to have the oil handy :)

Try the Tech Section, under 'W' for Windows. Then move to the Yellow Pages, under 'O' for Optometrist.

STeff mentioned their is two little holes on the washer on the inner side of the glass. I been turning this and it still doesnt unscrew. If its a clip and pushes in, then how am i supposed to get it out to use the new washer and parts? :(

I dont want to have to buy a new glass because of this little washer. Please help :zlove::(

It is a comprehensive guide to replace the nylon runner. The issue i am having is that the bi nylon runner sits at the end of has snapped from the glass completely. If you have a look at the part on the left that little threaded section that sits on the glass has snapped off so i cannot just screw another runner onto it. I have to replace with the part below right. But i cannot get it off.:(

    Just done it

I have just removed the drivers side window and bolt. Mine was also broken. I found that using a pair of right angled circlip pliers that fit easily in the retainer on inside of window, I was able to turn the retainer, unfortunately the bolt that goes through the window turned as well.
Using a angle grinder with a thin metal cutting disc I cut a slot in the top of the bolt ( care must be taken not to mark the window during this operation, surround the bolt with masking tape for protection). Then using circlip pliers on inside retainer and a screwdriver in slot I had just cut on bolt head, I was able to easily unscrew the bolt from the retainer and remove it from the window.
Thanks Chili for the part Nos

    Hope this helps.

    Martin

Good work. I need to remove the whole button as on my one their is no bit hanging out of the inside washer. Its flat and the broken bit sits inside the washer so i somehow supposed to remove the whole button.

    Beats me..new window i think

Mine was the same, the bolt I refer to is the button you refer to. I had to cut a slot in it to prevent it turning when I turned the retainer (washer on the inside with two holes in it)
The button as you describe it, is a bolt that screws into the retainer. Its not glued or anything its just screwed into retainer or washer with a plastic washer between the retainer and the inside of the window. No need to remove window to do this.
    Parts cost less than $20.

Shame your in ACT or I would nip round and do it for you, takes about an hour to remove trim, fix window slider bolt and reassemble

    Cheers Martin

    ahhhhh i understand my friend.

Basically i need to turn the washer on the inside using the two holes and at the same time stop the outside button from turning so that it unscrews.

Did you take your window out to do this mate?

ps: Thanks for the info its a big help...i was turning the inside but im guessing because the outside was turning too it wasnt gonna unscrew.

    Exactly correct.

I'm not sure which slider you have broken, mine was the top one and I did not have to remove the window, just trim and loosen seals

    Good luck

I did the drivers side window on the convertible on the weekend. Hopefully it will leak a bit less (why does it always rain every time I go to QLD ?)

Mine had broken off completely, but it's good to have a shed full of spares sometimes.
