dub did this a while ago and it looked sweet at the end of it, but his pictures aren't being hosted anymore http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=256132
I suppose you could but removing all the components and attemptng to prep things you can reach may be a bit difficult, you might as well just remove the engine anyway... it would be much easier if your respraying the same color..
remove everything from the sides, remove everything at front (i.e rad etc), cover engine and anything else. sand, and sprey.... although it can be done, i do remember dubs exercise. did take time, and personally id remove the engine and do it all once and for all. plus you can bypass many things in the process and clean up the bay ...but you already know that
It can be done - but much easier with the engine out - and as above, cleaning up the engine bay and bypassing things makes it look so much better
rofl You cant do it properly without taking the motor out im afraid, its a bit like sweeping the dirt under the mat :zlove:
you need to see dubs car in the flesh me and my mate were floored when he said the engine hadn't come out its a mint job just time consuming.
DEPENDING.. which bits you need to paint.. but when you think about it.. remove everything on the sides, harness and all that... only another 2-3 hours work and the engine IS out...
I was thinking when it comes time to do my car's respray I might go white, but keep the engine bay black...don't see much wrong with that. Any other colours it might be a bit odd ;-)
There are alot of newer cars coming out with black engine bays regardless of the car's color...doesnt look that odd...
yeh thats what i meant, engine bay = black = most versatile. but a blue car with a red bay and sills would look off..
I was thinking more along the lines of a touch up. I found these though. Engine bay skins, see around the sides and the rear. They go over the top and the rear one is screwed on with spaces so you can take it off to access the battery etc.
agreed but define "properly" anything under the engine can't be seen anyway if its going from 1 colour to another, then sure, but if its a fresh coast of the SAME colour, id say a "proper" job, could be done with engine in. but yes i do agree with you i guess im saying, look at Dubs, and you just wouldn't know the diference
Hmmmm.... that does look interesting hides alot of the crap which alot of people relocate or remove, i like it
