slam the selector into 1st, push hard on the accelerator, turn the same way as the rear is sliding and try to control it down the street tankslappin, until you gain enough speed that you gain traction again, or until you loose it and realise u should go to a skidpan day!!!

    yeah

maybe we should arrange one down at AHG.

They have cars for the pan i think... not sure how much. not sure if you can do in your own car.

id be in, even if the zed goes, i think its a damn good idea.

There's rumour my company is putting EVERYONE through advanced driver training next year as part of Saftey policy, reguardless of role.

doubt the budget will get approved though :(

My advice as ive done simular in the wet......

    dont THINK about countersteering

ok thats odd advice.... what i mean is let it be natural. If you "force it" i can almost guarentee you'll over do it and end up in a tank slapper/snakey sliding one way then the next

the other factor is the throttle.....

some people say "power through".... i think thats BS in a road situation and dangerouse.... but so is JUMPING off the throttle. This too can cause you to shift the slide 1 side to the other as the weight shifts in the car too quickly

the best recoveries ive done, ive kind of done without thinking....

kind of countersteer a TINY bit, but then dont keep chasing it, find your "exit angle" and hold the front wheels in the direction you SHOULD be going, not counter steering past it

With the throttle, I just held it... maybe backed off a tiny tiny bit but not much, just held it smooth in one spot.

of course, diferent car, speed, conditions and all the above changes..... hence......

    summary though
I dont think there's a magic formular. its down to knowing your car, experience, and instinct.
Hence why i think skid pan or even MC on a damp day are the best option for all of us.
